last will anh Testament uf Senior lass nf 1923 ,sl N behalf of my elient., the Class of 1923, of Edgemont High Sr-hool of t.he City of Roc-ky Mount, State of North Farolina, United States of America, I have ealled you together on this serious and solemn oeeasion to listen to her last will and testament, and to reeeivc from her dying hand the few gifts 'she has to bestow in her last moments. We, the Senior Class, being of simple mind, but eonsidering the uneertainty of the days we have to tell others what we think of them, do make and declare this our last Will and Testament, revoking and making void all former wills or promises. ITEM I. To Mr. Wilson, our Superintendent: to Mr. Humphreys, our Prineipalg to our Faculty, and to our Board of Trustees, we leave our deep and smeere thanks for their LlI1i,ll'lI1g ettorts and undivided mterest m providmg the neeessary equipment, and in aiding us so that we might reach ou1' present enviable positions. ITEM II. To our school wc leave our benevolent inhuenee, and trust that it will so fill the halls and rooms that each sueeeeding class may attain as great sueeess as we hope we have. ITEM III. To the Juniors we leave our love, and our spirit of eo-operation, with the hope that they may 'tearry on even as we. lVe also bequeath to them a magnifying glass with which to find our privileges. lVith tears and sohs we give them our beloved elass rooms only under the condition that they be well preserved, and that the unmarrerl desks he left in their present beauty. lVe will not dispose of individual desks on aeeount of the jealousies which might ensue, but Margaret Green has requestedlthat her desk be passed on to Daisy Dell Gay, so that her propensity for asking foolish questions may not die out. ITEM IV. To the Sophomore Class We leave our eherished dignity. We hope that from this will arise that same serious-minded attitude which gave us sueh a responsi- bility in our work. ITEM V. To the Freshman Class we leave a plaee in the sehool, and the hope that when they stand in our plaees they will have only added to the fame of the Edgemont High School. We also leave to them this motto: To be seen, and not heard. To the Freshman girls we leave Lib Jenkins' make-up, as our observation has shown us that they are in dire need of sueh. We, in our sophistication, feel that we can advise them as to its proper use. ITEM YI. The following may seem but tritling bequests, but we hope they may be ae- eepted, not as worthless things lavishly thrown away heeause we eau no longer keep them, but as valuable assets to those who may reeeive them, and a eontinual reminder of the generosity of heart displayed in our fme and full hestowal: FIRST.+TO Mr. Humphreys we leave a varied eolleetion of clorins to add to the collection which he has so carefully preserved. ,QI 2 7 Ib.
