Each year there is one person chosen to be honored above others amont the faculty of Rocky Grove High School through his being the recipient of that year's Hilltopper dedication. This year we, the class of 1969, honor one well deserving such adedication. Not only has he faithfully taught practical and neces- sary business skills, but also he has contributed to our sense of beauty through the directing of fourteen plays and formerly, the advising of our drama clubs. Fot these services and your continual concern for the stu- dents of Rocky Grove, we dedicate this yearbook to you, Mr. Carl Henderson. IY4 ,. Ed Vera Rocky Grove has again this year been privileged to have a foreign exchange student from Latin America. Eduardo Vera Sobrino from Santiago, Chile, arrived on January 9 to spend three months with the Dr. Thomas Gardener family. Here are E'd's comments on Rocky Grove: I think the most valuable aspect of this visit to North America is that I have had a real opportunity to know people, their type of life, thinking, and their school education. .I consider for a person a great ex- perience to get out of hisown sphere for a certain period of time, in order to regard the world from another one. I appreciate with all my heart what everyone has done in order to make me feel just as in home. You have really done a fine job. Iwill remember you all my life. Thank you very much Rocky Grove. . Ed Vera ..-,jr-Tin an , :TIL V ,fir . Homecoming On January 24, 1969, Rocky Grove held its second annual Winter Sports Horne- coming. Kit Deeter was crowned queen by Ralph Shay. Other members of the court were Debbie Johnston, Jan Zilafro, Mary Prichard, Pam Gibbons, Deb Reed, and Cindy Hartle. Senior Class Play 1969 The preacher's kids. Behind the scenes. Another was that no one was supposed to beat Mead- ville, especially Rocky Grove. Under the leadership ofCoach Marin, this 1969 squad was very disciplined. Teamwork was the word and teamwork gave our Orioles the victories. They posted a very impressive 11 and 9 record. Our Orioles placed 4 in Section II competition with a '7 and '7 record. Leading this years team were seniors, Scott Walters, Dave Allen, Dick McCarren, and Barry McClintock and juniors Mike Hinkson and Rick Walkowski. Rick Walkowski was nicknamed Mr, Automatic with his outside shooting and Scott Walters raked in the rebounds. This years team impressed many and worked as a team. Good work, guys and Coach Marin. Most important of all, these girls lead the crowds cheering at the games. They also plan and lead the pep-rallies at school and promote high school spirit throughout the school and among the play- ers. These girls achieve a feeling of contentment after cheering our Orioles to a victory. No squad could have met these responsibilities better than our 1969 varsity cheerleaders. Seniors are Sheryl Lerch, Sandy Grill, Sally Morig, and Pat Graff, while our junior cheerleader is Sandy Schiffer. These girls, under the leadership of Mrs. Davis, must be commended on their establishment of high school spirit.
