A WORLD OF MEMORIES Rocky Gap High School Students possess a world of memories as a reminder of their school days. It is the hope of the Yearbook Staff that we have recorded pictonally some of these cherished memories for the 1981-82 school year for you to recall and share with friends in the future. It is impossible, however, to record pictorially some of the memories you hold dearest; therefore, we invited you to share with us your memories which you will find listed below. Do you remember: walking around the building before school and after lunch the great group of friends you have being cold in the winter months because the furnace didn't work being hot in the warmer months because we had no air conditioning the roof leaking on perfectly clear days the first love that turned out to be a flop the anxiety on your first date the ballgames played with rulers and paperwads the dog in the closet when the student accidentally caught the classroom trash can on fire being the new girl or boy in school and not knowing anyone having your favorite teacher jump on you for something you didn't mean to do those students who drive teachers insane being scared and excited both on your first day in high school the day a certain student wore purple hair listening to the fans scream for their Eagles having your locker decorated with shaving cream by your friends playing in your very first basketball game — and turning the opportunity into a disaster getting in trouble with Mr. Kaylor how depressed you were when your favorite teacher left for another teaching job being in Junior Beta and going to Barter Theatre on a field trip playing in the intramural basketball games at lunch time making the honor roll learning to do and make things in agriculture class the best part of the day — lunch time — because it was a time of talking and sharing with your friends having no homework one day and being literally swamped until midnight the next the delightful panic of shortened classes the blissful pleasures of turning on the radio and hearing that school was canceled the late schedule days — which turned a faculty of calm, sophisticated mentors into a scrambling, frustrated mob eager to get the assignment in before the shortened period ended the nightmare of French class and your frustrations of learning how to say ‘7 want to buy a cow' in French running into everyone in the hall when changing classes talking in class and not getting caught writing that special someone a note and having him her tell you to get lost going to the basketball game and not being able to see the game because you worked at the concession being asked to the first ball game of the year by that special someone being asked to your first dance being a candidate for May Queen or Homecoming being asked to the prom by the person who you never thought would ask you being a varsity basketball player being a cheerleader having the teachers think of you as a real person the many laughs that your friends and you have shared the pride and awe of representing your school in regional, state, and national events and contests winning an event at the county track meet for the first time devising schemes driving the driver ed car chasing boys girls dreaming dreams — six periods of phys. ed. skipping school the mysterious collection of water guns Mr. Kegley found on the ground outside Mr. Bird 's room what happens when water from a water gun hits a light the flaming hair during the reading of Julius Caesar A world of memories at RGHS has many copies — just like a book. All the former students and present students, too. have a copy of this book in their minds, never to be destroyed by anyone or anything. 2
