The Beta Club is a fun-loving group, as the photos on these pages indicate, but it is also a hard working club. The two semiformal dances and the baby contest sponsored by the club provided the money to send the thirteen students to Richmond. The club attempts to be of service to the school also, and it is in this spirit that it makes available to any student the paper-back, inexpensive books sold by the TAB Book Club. Each year at the end of school the club honors outstanding students with the presentation of scholastic letters, and it honors its own Seniors with a gold tassel to wear and a gold seal for their diplomas. To a group of Senior Beta members, these snapshots are much more than just scenes around the State Cap- itol. They are reminders of three exciting days and ways just as they seem.

two sleepless nights in March, 1965. The occasion was the annual State Beta Convention, held that year in Richmond. On a cold winter day when one must ride a school bus with no heater for eight hours, the easiest thing to do is sleep. Except for an occasional Rook game, sleep was the order of the day that Sunday on the way back from Richmond. The students pictured here did man- age to line up to say cheese” at the lunch stop at Lynchburg, and at Basti an as shown in the pictures at the far left and right. The annual Beta picnic was held at the end of the school term at Gross's picnic grounds. Entertainment included swimming in the cold, cold creek, playing softball on a diamond with a very slippery second base, and musical (?) numbers. We knew Brenda Andrews had Is Deena picking her teeth? a big mouth, but . . . And is Judy displaying what Deena is finding?
