BULLDOG ’69 Bulldog 68 Presented by ROCKY CREEK P. T. A. Lucedale, Mississippi Mr. John Cooley Pe, cation Each generation of teachers has an outstanding member that is truly dedicated and committed to the cause of education. This dedicated teacher is constantly looking for a better method of teaching, a way to improve the teaching facilities, a way to improve students’ interest that will insure greater learning, and looks for a method of instilling a greater ''desire to teach in fellow teachers. This teacher of teachers or leader of teachers is always dedicated to God, country, neighbor, and family and has within himself a tremendous interest in making the school, community, state, and nation a better place to live than it was yesterday. This teacher believes that you move ahead in progress or you fall behind, that you improve professionally or be outdistanced by fellow teachers. This leader is sometimes referred to as being Too good for his own good. ' There is no greater compliment that can be paid a person than this. Being too good means trying to settle disagree- ments without a trace of ill feeling remaining, handling discipline in such a manner that those dis- ciplined still show love and respect, and flash a smile and happy face toward one and all. With thoughts such as these racing through our minds, we, the Eighth Grade of 1969, take great pride and extreme pleasure in dedicating the BULLDOG '69 to our faculty member that measures up to these traits. It is with, love, respect, and admiration that we dedicate this yearbook to MR. JOHN COOLEY P.T. A. Officers Mr. John Cooley, Prin. ; Mr. Melvin Eubanks, Pres. ; Mrs. Faye Holyfield, Treas. ; Mrs. Katherine Harvison, Sec. P. T.A. President's Message The Rocky Creek School Annual has been prepared under the sponsorship of your P.T.A. so as to help illustrate your school program. Putting your school on display through this means should prove a great help in getting the story of your school before the public. Your P. T.A. takes great pride in sponsoring this book to help tell the education story for Rocky Creek, and we are happy that the school has such a broad variety of activities in its educational program for our children. We believe that the home is the basic unit in the structure of our society and that the school can help the home to have an influence in building the child's character, sense of values, and his conception of the world. ke WN SN SN ‘ ay Ast SN SV) XS SS ‘ “y : as NY s Ab 46 £ERS 29, ve i ile Tie lea Ga) Em =n A ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY George County Board Of Education The George County Board of Education is a group of taxpayers who are elected by the people of the district to represent them in matters concerning school policies, property maintenance, and adminis- tration of the district's schools. PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE The Principal of the Rocky Creek School holds a great admiration for the school staff and the students of whom we teach. I am sure we, the entire staff, on the basis of our knowledge and wisdom have made plans and efforts to provide a strong educational program to meet the important needs of the students and the community. So, onthe basis of such a program may it have many sweet memories in developing high values and molding good character on the lives of many people. May I extend to you my very best wishes. Retired Mrs. Rhoda Pipkins Upon retiring, Mrs. Pipkins, you have devoted thirty years of your life to teaching with more than half of this given to the Rocky Creek School. In your career of teaching your record indeed shows a job well done. There is absolutely no way to measure the great values that you have taught to many people for such little monetary pay during your teaching career here at Rocky Creek. We do hope that this annual will serve to remind you from time to time how much we appreciate the great service you have so well done. May you have many more years of sweet memories to come. 12 At ; G G ari ya A Wy ye Where 1 CLASSES Eighth Grade Mr. William Eubanks Mr. Gene Reed Shane Ayon Donnis Ray Barrow Shirley Beck John Box Miranda Box Lisa Brannan Sandra Cooley Allen Davis David Davis 14 Faren Davis Jerome Davis Leroy Davis Lynn Davis John Dees Jarvis Dickerson Karen Dickerson Randy Dickerson Larry Dickson Vickie Dyer Dawson Dyess CLASS FAVORITES Renthia David 16 Catherine Eubanks Dortha Eubanks Tim Eubanks Vickie Eubanks Janette Ferguson Kaye Gante Ethel Havard Thomas Holland Janice Leggett Kristy McKissick Eddie Mason Deloris Mathis Jimmy Merck Maranda Middleton Dorothy Rouse Kaye Shepherd David Smith Renthia Strickland Lynn Tanner Ray Thomley Johnny Thompson Toni Lynn Thrower Bobby Vallun Gloria Weaver CLASS FAVORITES Shane Vickie 17 Class Prophecy ———— 0 The Eighth Grade Class of 1969 peers into the old reliable crystal ball and around 1980 the mist clears and we see: Famous ping-pong champion, Jimmy Merck, and his athletic wife, Catherine Eubanks, are on their way to Hollywood to visit famous actor and actress, Faren Davis and Lynn Davis, stars of ''Miss America and the Monster, '' and country singer, Kaye Shepherd, with her hit record Bubble Gum Between your Toes Feels Icky . While they are gone their eight children are being kept by nursemaid, Janice Leggett, famous for her coffee commercials on television. Boarding the plane, they are welcomed by stewardess, Karen Dickerson, and introduced to pilot, John Box, and co-pilot, Eddie Mason, known for their flight over the South Pole while on their way from Miami to New York. During the flight they were served flaming turtle toes prepared by head chef, Dennis Barrow and chief bottlewasher, Johnny Thompson. After lunch, they had an interesting conversation with scientists, Leroy and Allen Davis, famous for their cough syrup, Moonshine . Before landing, they read an article about the successful turkey hunt of Shane Ayen and Tim Eubanks, in the wilds of Mississippi. Upon arriving at the airport, they were wildly driven by chaffeau, Gloria Weaver, to Faren's French provencial mansion designed by architect, Kristy McKis- sick and decorated by Miranda Box in Early Chinese, and landscaped in Hot Desert by gardener, Randy Dickerson. They quickly noticed Hollywood was a wild place when they saw beachboy, Bobby Vallum, chasing the 'Ban'' commercial girl, Vickie Dyer; three of Hell's Angels, Lynn Tanner, Dawson Dyess, and Deloris Mathis racing on their tricycles; and CIA men, Jerome Davis and Thomas Holland, playing Russian Roulette with a cap pistol. Later they ran into Hippies, Tone Thrower, Lisa Brannan, Shirley Beck, and Maranda Middleton, being told by their leader, David Smith, how to get high on black coffee sweetened with lemon juice. On their way to brutally bring him in were policeman, John Dees, and Salvation Army woman, Vickie Eubanks. Upon touring the local Old Folks Home they were shown a couple of familiar faces by head nurse, Ethel Havard, ---Mr. Eubanks and Mr. Reed, getting their kicks by watching reruns of 'Lassie'' and old Rocky Creek football films. Becoming upset, Mrs. Merch suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the nearest hospital where she was put under the skillful hands of heart transplant surgeon, Larry Dickson, who was looking for his first successful case. She recovered quickly due to the efforts of nurses, Janette Ferguson and Kay Gante, just recently graduated from their home study course offered by educator, Ray Thomley. Returning to Faren's mansion, they were admitted by butler, Jarvis Dickerson, and served warm tomato juice by maid, Dorothy Rouse. They then went into the main hall to attend the wedding of Renthia Strickland and David Davis, who marched to the altar to the tune of ''The Tall and the Brave , played by Sandra Cooley on the tuba and sung by Dortha Eubanks. But now a blast from the tuba cracks the old crystal ball and the picture fades 18 Seventh Grade | Mrs. Louis Mason CLASS OFFICERS CLASS FAVORITES Stanley Deborah { Deborah Bennett Cynthia Bond ) Teresa Brannan Ben Brown Mark Cooley Alfred Davis | Debbie Davis Dewayne Davis Ricky Day Stanley Dearman Deborah Dickerson | Kathy Harvison Freddie Havard John M.
