Our first three years were contributed to learning to spell, read, write, and showing our artistic ability with modeling clay and crayons. The fourth. fifth, and sixtl. grades had more meaning. Many responsibilities were given to us during these years, -- working in the cafeteria -- patrol boys and girls -- selling supplies during noon hour -- and a comical presentation of THE NUTCRACKER SJHIE. Then we moved to the high school building. After many adjustments and confusing schedules, we finally settled among the many upperclassmen, but still scared stiff to even take a deep breath. Then and there we could see how many things we had to look forward to in the on- coming four years. As FRESHMEN -- 59 enrolled -- F. F. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY As I was on my way to lunch this morning a school teacher of ole Rock- ville High stopped me and asked me how I enjoyed my'trip that I took last year with three other good friends of mine. he said that he would like us all to get together and write about it. since we had seen so many graduates of the 1958 class. Well, we all got our heads together and started recalling oux wonderful trip. I h es 7?: First of all, we got on the bus at the big bus station at Rockville, Indiana. It was so crowded with people that we didn't even think we would make it. But we made it after all, After all the shaking and roaring of the bus ride, we got off the bus at the corner of Wild Cherry and Cinnamon Square. There was such a big building on the corner that we decided to go in and take a look. After all, Rockville doesnlt have very many big buildings. We stepped into the elevator. and it was so much fun that we forgot to get off until we couldn't go any farther. We were way up on the 40th floor. Come to find out though, it was the building where Mary Catherine Barnes published her famous bookJ Chemistry Made Easy. In this same building Joe Bloomer started his career as the finest janitor in the United States. We visited with them for a while. and they were telling us about a basketball game that was supposed to be played that night. They thought we would like to go; so we did. We thought they meant a boys' basketball team, but it was a girls' team starring Carol Betty, one of their former class- mates. She was wearing built-in bed springs Ifor short playetsi on her shoes. It was so hilarious we could have watched them play forever, but we had been walking all day and, of course, working our mouths like mad because we hadn't seen these kids for twenty years, and you know how it is. So we were going over to the hotel for the night. This surely is a small world. Charlie Hall was the big-to-do hotel manager there; so he told us about this town and all the people in it. He said he knew quite a few of them because he graduated with many of them. He almost talked our heads off. At seven o'clock the next morning we started out into this well-known city once again. We went over to Jeanne Bradburn's Loco School for Morons. Jeanne told us that after taking post graduate courses at her school, Sharon Pence was finally made hostess at the swankiest mortuary in Parke County. About two blocks down the street we met Barbara Clark, who told us about her bill board advertising the Clark Dancing Agency --- Dancing in the Dark With Clark. She told us that she had just received a news flash over the radio that Pistol-Packin' Rita Conway has been elected the 1, 000. 000th sheriff of Kalamazoo. Michigan. Rita was well known for the capture of Harmful Harmless tyou knew him as Melvinl. notorious tax evader. You all remember Phyllis Ritchey, famous as the lst woman driver to win in the 500 mile classic. She has also won fame with Linda Cook as the first Siamese twin governor of Indiana. Hollywood seemed to be going wild over ravishing Larry Cooper. who lately made his debut as the world's greatest lover. More news from the theater was that David Sowers and Gary Crandell are leading ladies in an all men's production of Little Women. -33. Carolyn Doolin had become rich from a silver polish which she concocted especially for batons. As we traveled on we met two old maids, Brenda Smith and Judy Glas- son. who were busy working on building a better mouse trap. However. they had enlarged on the idea and were engaged in building a colossal Man-Ttap. Mrs. Rod Herrick. formerly Mary Ellen lnsley, has become one of the foremost cartoonists of the day, She said she owed her success to her husband Roderick, who serves as her model. In the same building we saw Lida Holmes ithe famous contortioniso who had been perfecting her act at the Palladium How to Escape from a Locker. Ge Ge lacks, the world-famous producer of the ballet The Reincarnation of the Swan, has gained much publicity by adding Bill Ferry to her troupe. Bill also played the lead in Monsieur Butterfly. Darrell Ovetpeck had just opened his Super Duper General Store in Hickville and is reported to be doing well. He says he owes it all to his hourly floor show, featuring Janet Bubbles Swaim and Gypsy Rose Kendall. The Kent heiresses, Virginia and Frances, have developed a new all day cigarette to replace the old fashioned king-size. Mrs. John Lee, the former Shirley White, well-known for her babaloo chant. has teamed up with her husband John, who plays bongos. Mademoiselle Janet Market has a beauty salon in Paris where Jim Mitchell gets his permanents. Her main objective is to keep the hair out of her customers' eyes. George Mendenhall was then appearing at the Hollywood Bowl as the world's fastest typist. We went over to the place where Charlotte McCullough was staying, but the folks said she had flown to Arkansas to speed up the production of her invention, the barefoot nylons. As we looked into the sky, we saw Don Navel and Allen Seward trying out their new invention, the wingless jet. While walking down one of the main stteets. we came upon our own John Stryker playing 5th trumpet for the Salvation Army band. Joe Hopkins' Madman at the Piano is said to have given up after his 891h attempt to play Dizzy Fingers and is now assembling dinosaurs at the Smithsonian Institute. David Swaim and Maurice Wimmet were working for Elvis Presley. They are the most important members of his ttoupe. David carries his guitar while Maurice helps him stand up while singing. As we were going downtown to catch the next bus home, we saw a big sign reading Private Bookkeeping Lessons. Guess who the teachers were?? Our own Sharon Thompson. Rachel Smiley. Myla Lientz, and Joan De- planty! ! ! 1! We stopped and talked with them for a while, and while on w the subject of old friends, etc. they said John Spencer was the presi- dent of the bank just across the street, where one of his old flames is his private secretary.
