Senior Class History Nineteen of the graduatlng seniors have attended the Rockville schools for twelve years. They are Barbara Hall, Phyllis Lane, Bill Canter, Max Morgan, Gwendolyn Martin, Judy Humphrey, Ernest Martin, Joan Murphy, Jim Swaim, Dorothy Neet, Ronald Matthews, David Zehr, Betty Smith, Eugene White, Mike Cummings, Jim Lee, Gayla Gerrish, Ronald Stutler and Mary Jane Thompson After completing slx years of grade school, our class advanced to the level of Junior hlgh school Two years later we entered our freshman vear with the d1st1nction of belng the largest class ln hlgh school by having flfty three students Two students, Karen Jones and Dorothy Neet, brought recognit1on to our school that year bv representlng Rockville, in the state algebra and state Lat1n contests The Sophomore year started w1th our winnlng flrst place at the Halloween Fest1val on a sk1t entltled nAhhhhhhh N The PPIZC money added nlcely to our treasury which was belnv saved for the class trip Two hlghlights of our JU IOP year were selllng at football and basketball games and presentlng the senior class w1th a wonderful prom Wanda Kelsheimer was elected prom queen w1th Phyllls Lane and Dorothy Neet serving as her attendants The main feature for our junior year came w1th the cllmax of school The JUDIOP and senior class comblned to go on a memorable class tr1p to Washlngton, D C I'm sure none of us w1l1 ever forget such 1nc1dents as meetlng students from other hlgh schools or trudglng to the top of the Wash1nvton Monument In 1954 and 1955 Cynth1a Snowden, Clarlce Boyd, Judy Humphrey, and Dorothy Neet represented our school 1n the state Engl1sh contest at Indlana Unlversity Dorothy Neet was the '54 homecomlng queen and Gavla Gerrlsh had th1s pleasure 1n '55 B111 Canter won the Weaver Freethrow Award and ball Award We have had our share of ups and downs, but still have managed to st1ck together and stand bv one another when the odds were down W have also proven our ab111ty as leaders Nearly everyone 1n our class has been a member or an officer 1n one of the followlng clubs The Future Farmers of Amerlca, The Natlonal Honor Soclety, Y Teens, H1 Y, and The Glrls Athletic ASSOC12t10U Several students from our class have been members of the chorus and band Many of the latter have taken part 1n the d1str1ct and state solo and ensemble contests and have brought numerous honors to the school At last we reached the f1nal year Thls was the year wh1ch we all will look back on as unforgettable The class play, prom, and EP8dU8t10D all were slgniflcant events of belnv a sen1or These accompllshments have helped us all to face the future w1th eagerness and anticlpatlon It is slncerely hoped by all that we w1l1 be successful and responslble citlzens 1n our future llves Compliments of MR and MRS RAY THOMPSON , 0 the McMillin Basketball Awardg Joe Seip was awarded the Collings Foot- l , 4 ,VA U , . e
