THE TATLER tlng down the death tolls 'W It all bo1ls down to th1s the only thlng th1s leg lslature dld to lmprove the s1tuat1on was to change the age a boy can ac qulre a hunt1ng l1cense Th1s auto matlcally cuts out hlS experlence pre v1ous to manhood Then the man al though he IS of age goes afield not know1ng much about hunt1ng cond1 tlons Do you th1nk th1s IS the answel I I sav lt w1ll do more harm than good B111 Spear 53 RONNIE PROVES HIS POINT ROHHIQ had Just left the grocery store and h1s arms were filled w1th bundles of grocer1es It was a clear CFISD Aprll day The sun was sh1n1ng brlghtly up above but thele was a chlllmg breeze Now all Ive got to buy IS the he thought After he had taken the bundles home he could go to the baseball park and practlce w1th the town team He was a sen1or 1n hwh school and had been play 1ng short stop for the town s baseball team They practlced everv Saturday afternoon S1nce It was 11 30 now he d have to hurry 1f he wanted to get there on tlme Every sprmg he practlcallv l1ved 1n the ball park After lunch he was hurrvlng down West Street takmg the short cut to the plavlng field when he came upon a group of voung boy s At a d1stance It appeared as 1f two of the young sters were argulng for the remaln 1ng tots had gathered 1n a c1rcle around them Ronnle pald no atten t1on to them but was aroused when the onlookers started shoutmq The two who appeared to be argumg were now swmgmg thelr fists at each other I-Ieyl Ronnle shouted Break It up before someone gets hurt But by then It was too late' One of the fellows was on the ground H1s nose was bleedmg and h1s left eye was pufflng up fast When Ronnle reached the crowd of 9XC1t8d boys the w1nner of the bout was saylng See I told you I was rlght you wouldnt belleve me but I told you I was rlght What s the matter fellows 'P Ron n1e asked Oh sald the v1ctor1ous one B111 sald that the last pennant the Red Sox won was 1n 1946 and I sa1d It w as 1n 1948 See I was rlght wasn t I9 Well wasnt I9 Ronnle thought for a wh1le Then he laughed a 11ttle and sald N you re wrong' B111 s rlght The Red Sox d1d w1n the pennant 1n 1946 not 1n 1948 Just because you won the tight Wlth B111 doesnt necessar11y mean that you won the algument too He told the boy s to shake hands and stop argu1ng Ronnle started off toward the ball park He stopped and turmng around to the youngsters sa1d You see fightlng the wlnner of the iight doesn t prove that he was rlght only that he 1S a better fighter From now on when you re 1n doubt ask some one who knows before you start knocklng someones teeth down 111s throat Then he looked at h1s watch and ran for the ball park Phy 111s Slmonton 53 R IT COULD HAPPEN Thls storv takes place 1n a g1gant1c space observatory on the well known planet Mars In th1s observatorv were two space professors watch1ng our planet through one of thelr powerful telescopes As they watched they talked of the poss1b111t1es of the peo ple of Mars someday gomg to the planet Earth Thev were sure of l1fe on that planet because at nlght the1r poyverfullv advanced telescopes would plck up the l1ghts of the great c1t1es As the vears passed the people of Mars bullt better and more powerful 28 . ,, . . . . T E TATLER Literary ROCKPORTS NEW SCHOOL We as utmens oi the town of Rockport ale verv fortunate 1n hav mg a new school bllllillflg ind gvmna slum Becluse ot the lncrease IH the number of chlldren attendlng school we certfunlx have 1 great need for th1s new .?IClCl1tlO1'1 to our town Al though xt 1s costlng 1 lalge amount of money for th1s constructlon we can be assul ed th It It 19 a worthwh1le D1019Ct Our new school IS a healthler plea santer pl lce IH XVIIICII to study The outer walls ot the bu1ld1ng are largely composed of glass thus 1dm1tt1ng an abundance of sunllght 1nto the rooms cellent hghtmg arrangements An a1r cond1t1on1ng su stem keeps the warm and cool alr clrculatlng through the bu1ld1ng We can b certaln that the chxldren of our town w1ll be warm 1n our school durlng the wlnter for an excellent heatlng sw stem has been lnstalled Oh how proud our athletes w1ll be xx hen they can hold the1r games 1n the new ffymnasluml It w11l be grand to be able to play on th1s new spa CIOUQ well bu1lt floor The spectators n 111 also apprec1ate the fact that there Wlll be more bleachers and therefore more seatlng room IH the new gym Slnce we are luckv enough to have all these advantages whv not show how much vue apprec1ate them? telescopes IH whlch to study the un knowns of space One nlght as the two professors were stud51ng our planet they saw explos1ons on d1fferent parts of the Earth The exploslons lasted for two weeks day and nlght At the begm n1ng of the th1rd week the whole planet was a mass of fire and explo SIOHS Slowly the fire burned 1tself out Nothmg could be seen but a round black ball wh1ch was the re malns of the Earth Hund1 eds of wears passed and the people of Mars were st1ll watchlng the Ea1th of SIQHS of l1fe aga1n Wlth the pass1ng of wears the Earth had become green aga1n and gave evldent slffns of the 1etu1n of hfe Weeks later the sc1ent1sts reported that a locket shlp w as en route to the1r plan et from the once burned out planet Earth Great excltement filled the ob servatolv and as the new spread the people of Mars began to feel tenslon about the rocket shlp commg to the1r planet It was the mam tOp1C of all conversat1on They wondered how the people from Earth would look The b1g questlon was D1d the rocket shlp come 1n peace or war?
