XJU GLX' 1 GD Q bd lj' Q Q QQ? W il, of ir savvy E ase kd BJ J X In a day when studies seem oppressive and the personalities around us polish our souls with unnecessary abrasiveness...when our whole being aches because we perceive someone we counted on failed us...or when the pressure of responsibility bears down with unrelenting heaviness...there is a time and a place when the course of the day can change. Chapel. The purpose of the hour is timeless. To dedicate the energy of our hearts to the new and different, such as the need to care for someone else, the goodness of God's design for the universe, the reality that God cares in a detailed way, for what goes on in our lives, the necessity of taking heed to ourselves - our health, our minds, our feelings -to pray, to sing, to share. In so doing - we find rest- the rest, which was an activity of God in creation, the rest that must be part of every great person of God, the rest that is inherent in the spiritual, emotional and physical health of a human being. Chapel will persevere as the litmus of Christian experience. Criticized, skipped or obscured by inattentiong we miss, in chapel, the opportunity to make an important turn in a hard day - or to make a good day better. Affirmed, accepted and appropriated to the center of what we are, chapel is the choice, and therefore one opportunity we give God to make an impression on us. f Qs i
