Never before in the history of the college has there been as many people attending our school as there was this past year. This presented the council with a number of new problems. The time came when we realized the need to improve our student government in order to effectively meet the needs of our growing student body. God willing, the changes that we made will meet the needs of the people that future councils will strive to serve. To those who follow in our footsteps l would say, never forget that the purpose of our student government is to represent the needs of those people whom we serve and tend to those needs to the best of our ability. W il, of ir savvy E ase kd BJ J X In a day when studies seem oppressive and the personalities around us polish our souls with unnecessary abrasiveness...when our whole being aches because we perceive someone we counted on failed us...or when the pressure of responsibility bears down with unrelenting heaviness...there is a time and a place when the course of the day can change. Chapel. The purpose of the hour is timeless. To dedicate the energy of our hearts to the new and different, such as the need to care for someone else, the goodness of God's design for the universe, the reality that God cares in a detailed way, for what goes on in our lives, the necessity of taking heed to ourselves - our health, our minds, our feelings -to pray, to sing, to share. In so doing - we find rest- the rest, which was an activity of God in creation, the rest that must be part of every great person of God, the rest that is inherent in the spiritual, emotional and physical health of a human being. Chapel will persevere as the litmus of Christian experience. Criticized, skipped or obscured by inattentiong we miss, in chapel, the opportunity to make an important turn in a hard day - or to make a good day better. Affirmed, accepted and appropriated to the center of what we are, chapel is the choice, and therefore one opportunity we give God to make an impression on us. f Qs i 'A 'X ,,f11 . y. Rockmont's Andrew Sisters Rockmont's Towering Infernal I Old Faithful Music rolls forth from sharply dressed figures - calm, controlled and beautifully harmonized. Conditioned through months of rehearsal, the relatively small collection of voices creates a surprisingly rich sound, through which a powerful ministry is realized. Rockmont College Choir, under the direction of Mr. Ron Carter, has had the privilege of representing Rockmont this year through a series of concerts in Colorado, as well as in other parts of the country. The choir itself offers a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, enjoyment of beautiful music' and establishing lasting friendships. Through Mr. Garber's dedicated coaching, one learns proper vocal mechanics, as well as the discipline required to survive the grand culmination of all those hours of rehearsal- SPRING TOUR. This incredibly intense two-week period is the ultimate test of all that has been learned during the course of the year, a measure of each person's limitations and strengths, and a perfect time for personal growth. Seeing Larry Rider and Verlene Garber do the jitterbug in the aisle of the bus or the human pyramid and straining faces made outside of Salem, Oregon, or the lush greenery of Washington State was a rewarding experience.
