Can you remember Salty wet hands That clutched hard nails Rusting in the coming rain? Remember shoulders cut By the cruel knife of the whips, Remember a brow scarred forever By thorns, sharp biting thorns. Even nature turned against him In those thorns. Do you remember torn flesh That held a God? Then take the bread. Do you remember? Try and remember Blood that flowed Into stinging eyes. Remember brown earth Turned wet and sticky Below the weathered wood. Do you remember blood That poured from His straining heart? Then take the cup. I! , , basketball tour This year, the cheerleaders were lucky enough to accom pany the basketball team on all of their tours. Although not all the tours went smoothly, they were a grow- ing experience for all concerned. There were times of fun and work such as cooking meals for the team, and times of prayer for safety and guidance while on the road. With problems such as ice- packed roads, car break-downs, illness, and physical injuries, the group managed to work together well and maintain a general attitude of love. Through all the trials of the many tours, they all grew in their faith and their ability to trust the Lord. . xg ,at . is Q , ' M , , 512' ,v ,..V ' 1 :QV .lf , .tm , W :Ziff ffl, si iii M, yn , , , A2 5414 if q, I 113 N HM! ,r 6 1 X 4? Coach Randy IVlcFarland graduated last winter from Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary, and has since moved to his new assignment for our Lord. In dedicating this book to Coach Randy, we felt it appropriate to ask those who knew him best, the team he worked with, their feelings about his coaching and his friend- ship. They shared the following: He was great! He was concerned with you on and off the field . He was concerned about the way you grew in the Lord: to help you keep your faith no matter what. He wanted you to play good soccer, but also to express Christ in your life . He was con- sistent in everything. He tried to tell you and show it in his own life too. He wouldn baby you, but he would keep you warm! He helped you mentally, physically, and spiritually . He helped you run wind-sprints! Dexter Turk If he wouldn't have made me run so hard . . .He was a nice guy! He worked us pretty hard, but that was to be expected. Gary Thompson I think that he was more than a soccer coach in that he developed more than the ath lete in you, even more than spiritually. He was concerned in a balanced life--like discipline. He gave responsibility to the guys. Dale Reece l found him to be an excellent person, both as a coach and as a friend. Kevin Lundberg Very stable Christian . He knew the sport really well, and he knew how to coach it. Mark NlcAnIis l liked him. He was a good coach. l think he had really good ability to lead us, teach and coach as a group. He didn't get mad or knock us down. He was pretty soft with us in the beginning. I want him back again! David Churchill What more can be said about one person, except GOD BLESS YOU, COACH, AND KEEP YOU THE SHINING EXAMPLE YOU HAVE BEEN FOR US! S SX K .
