At Rockmont we realize the vital importance of building on a firm foundation - both spiritually and educationally. We have chosen to dedicate this annual to one whose life reflects Christ because it has been built upon the firm foundation of Godis Word. For several years she helped young people at Rockmont acquire a good foundation in education. Many alumni have voiced their appreciation for the excellent teaching they received in their English classes. As we dedicate this annual to Mrs. Hubert Raichart, it is with deep regret that we have lost Miss Marie Garberson from our faculty and Signet staff. So to you, Mrs. Raichart, we gratefully say Thank You for your Christian influence in all our lives. ff 1 ii A r I D - M ' 1 Q N H 1 S ' T B H, R F A T I O N W X I, w H V l 1 The prophet Habbakuk was terribly distressed at conditions in his day. Ap- pealing to God for an answer, he learned that the situation would only become even more difficult. The solution to this dilemma came, as he waited in his watchtower: The just shall live by faith! This answer struck the prophet with such force he com- posed a song of praise, declaring that no matter what the situation, he would con- tinue to trust in his God. It is this principle that motivates the child of God: faith, an implicit trust, that gives direction in the darkness, and evidence for things we cannot see. It is this that undergirds the Rockmont student as he continues his training or launches into new opportunities. May the principle of faith be the great educative factor in our experience at Rockmont! . -- Board of Trustees Mr. Phil Ballard Greeley, Colorado Mr. Wayne Campbell Wheat Ridge, Colorado Mr. A. R. October l8th to 22nd. Speaker for the occasion was Dr. Richard S. Beal, Jr., Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Zoology at Arizona State College, Flagstaff, Arizona. Dr. Beal, with his doctorate in entomolo- gy, research experience at the Smith- sonian Institute, and years as a profes- sor. was as adept in his teaching method as in his scientific knowledge. A well-out- lined presentation, accompanied by numer- ous black board drawings and spiced with humor became the order of the day. The conference began with an historical study of the development of the idea of biological evolution, with emphasis on Darwin's background. The central part of the lectures presented the basic evidences which are usually claimed as proving the ease for evolution. Of special interest was the discussion of genetics and mutations, which revealed the complexity of the for- mation of life. Dr. Beal then noted some of the basic problems of the evolutionary theory. The real issue as stressed in the lectures is not the scientific evidences but the philos- ophy involved. Professor Beal emphasized that Christians are theists. who believe in a personal God who is independent of His creation but yet is immanent in the world. The campus was challenged intellectually. But above all, this conference showed the marvels of God's microcosm. the small world of the cell and the molecule. To overlay the walls of the houses withal. 1 C hron. 29:4 ,'.... ' A Choral Recitation of Psalm 23 The K ing's Karolers F ire up Rockets! December 4, 1965 was the day that a new tradition began at Rockmont College. We had a Homecoming for former students. A time of welcome got things going at 1:00 p.m. with the alumni meeting old friends, touring the campus, and seeing old profes- sors. A vesper service was held in the late afternoon, the service being centered around the 23rd Psalm. Mr. Parkin, our coach, and his speech class organized this time of wor- ship. At 7:00 p.m. the Alumni met our present Rockets on the basketball court. When the buzzer sounded to end the game the Rockets had won the victory with a score of 64, the alums trailing at 53. The alumni showed great spirit even though de- feat had to come. There was a good turnout for the game. The alums were led in their cheering by Jerri Johnston. The home crowd was led by the regular Rocket cheerleaders with the Pep Band giving their support. Two, Four, Six and a half All for Coach Parkin Stand up and 1a11gl1. ' Lambert is up.' Refreshments were served afterward by the faculty wivesg the cookies had been prepared by the Rockmont Student Wives Club. The Homecoming festivities seemed to have been enjoyed by all. One of the guests coming some distance was Coach Miller. He traveled from California to aid the alum basketball squad. l w SET'UP-' HEADS UP.'
