Roekmart held a T-point lead at the half hut the line of the Bohcats finally wore down the Jacket line and they poured through to spill Coalson behind the goal line for a safety. They then went on to score on a good run by the fleet hack of the Bobcats. Ledford. and gave the jackets their first setback of the season. The ,lackets never gave up and had the ball deep in the enemies' territory when the final whistle sounded. LEF CUMMINCS ROBERT ANDERSON Center End ,Q J ROCRNI-Xll'l' 21 DRITD llll.l.S ll The Xellow ,laekets remained unlveaten and untied as they took oxer the llruul llills eleven from the beginning of the game to the . The three evitra points were added hy Parks on placements. ROCRNIART 6 LaFAYET'l'E U The Yellow Jackets met a highly determined LaFayette eleven in a hot contest on the local field. With Summerville heating Canton, the Jackets gained a tie with Elijay for the Re- gion 3A leadership. This meant the Bobcats and the Yellow Jackets would meet again. This game was the hardest defensive battle of the season thus far. The lone .lacket score came as Parks hulled across the goal after a pass from Jay to Coalson put the ball on the 6 yard line. JERRY WHITESIDE Guard End i CHARLES WH -XTLEN ROCKMART 35 NEWNAN 13 The Rockmart line. which is one of the finest. blasted the guards and tackles of the Newnan line as Earl Parks played the best game of his career at Kockmart. He scored three T.lJ.'s. five extra points, and played great defensive hall. Lcflrande scored another as he inter- cepted a pass and went 65 yards. Jay sneaked over for thc last score. During the half, ceremonies were held to dedicate the new football field. lt was named Hilburn Field. in honor of Mr. Ed Hilhurn who was an earlier coach at Rockmart High. ROCKMART 34 ELIJAY 6 The Yellow Jackets took the Region 3A crown as they took revenge on Elijay. The Htrick bagu of Elijav was lacking as the Jackets held the Bobcats to one score. After the early touchdown by Ledford. Rock- mart ran almost wild on the field as almost every man in the backfield scored. LeCrande galloped 40 yards into paydirt, shortly after Parks had plowed across the double stripes for the first marker. A. Davis scored on a pass from Parks. and lay added two more on quarterback sneaks. R01 FR CAMl'lflfl.l. WVAYNE CAMP End Quarlerlzarlr ROCKYVIART 7 CEDARTOWN 20 ln the annual Thanksgiving Day game Hock- mart lost to a heavier and more experienced Cedartown eleven. Hampered by injuries and fumbles the Jackets were no match for the hard-running Cftown team and their deep re- serve strength. ROCKMART 0 LaGRANGE 25 LaGrange took the North Georgia Class A Championship as they bowled over the hard- fighting Rockmart eleven. The Jackets fought for every yard but it was LaGrange all the way. The only Jacket scoring opportunity came late in the game. but the season's final gun sounded before they could push over the score. FRANKI E GARNER Hal jlrark Cuaral .
