Marchell Vemell displays her cap and a rose which her mother gave to her as a gift. n June 12, 1983, the 1985 class of nurses from the Rockhurst College- Research College joint nursing program received their caps to signify their official entry into upper level nursing classes. During the ceremonies, the women received their caps and the men received a handshake and bobby pins. Dr. Joann King, Assistant Dean of Research College, Mr. Larry Padberg, Assistant Dean of Rockhurst Collegeg Dr. Theresa Mitchell, Dean of Research Col- lege, Sr. Rosemary Flanigan, professor of Philosophy, Dr. Charles Dorlac, Student Services Coordinator at Research, and Ms. Marilyn Nelson, BSN, and all instructors of Foundation Nurs- ing were present with Dr. King presiding. During her speech, Dr. King stated, You have successfully completed hours in the liberal arts component of the curriculum and two lower division nursing courses. 3 l Largest Freshman reshman Orientation began August 27 welcoming the largest freshmen class to attend Rockhurst The 419 students were involved in many pre planned activities including a pizza party at Mr Gatti s a picnic at Swope Park a scavenger hunt skits and the Freshman Olympics During Orientation the freshmen were given a chance to ask questions and learn more about their new surroundings During the activity fair students had the opportunity to inquire about different clubs and organizations which are available to them Class Ever!
