Although far away from the lands we love, we are happy to study here, for it is with admirable kindness, and without any regard to our social origin or material wealth that you have opened to us the gates of this institution and of our new life. Be-fore entering this powerful country, we had heard of your dams and of your oil fields, we had heard of your cars and of your machines. Today on,Iy, we realize that, above all, the culture of human values is dear to, noble Americans, not a dogmatic culture, nor a sly abuse of per- suasion, but an intelligent and generous guidance. We have been guided too, here at Rockhurst, we have been helped in every oct and every day. Never have we asked in vain for counsel or assistance, and rarely had we to ask. Never did we fee-I that your college is a part of a world in which we are strangers.
