ART-Art I and Art II are designed to give students a better understanding of art in everyday living and a foun- dation for those who plan on continuing their career this field. xii, 1 3' ' M-sr-r Basketball is part of the curriculum of boys P. E. classes. PHYSICAL EDUCATION-The physical and mental needs ofthe student are also part of the curriculum of Rock- ford Senior l-ligh. This mandatory course in physical educa- tion is taught by athletic director Mr. Gene Geilenfeld. ln- struction and tests concerning the various sports in which RSH participated arc also a part of this once-a-week course. DRIVER EDUCATION -The RSI-I driver education course was taught by Mr. John Helsel. The course consisted of sixty hours behind the wheel. The students were supplied with a 1968 Chevrolet Caprice. A summer session was also held to accomodate more students. First aid, good driving attitude, laws of the road and laws of nature are included in the course. pi: , . .,- . ,,f?,.s, ' 11 Mr. James Overby teaches biology, chemistry, and physics. SCI ENCE-The science field at Rockford Senior I-ligh is made up of biology, chemistry, and physics. Biology is the branch of knowledge concerning the treatment ofliv- ing organisms. Chemistry involves the composition of substances and the transformations which they undergo. Physics pertains to the laws of nature and material devel- opment. These subjects are all of basic importance to stu- dent knowledge and development. LIBRARY-All in all-readers' services, longer hours, more books and a comfortable, pleasing study area-the library proved a great asset to the students. t X Chemistry students labor.
