Learning the importance of good English in everyday use is the primary goal of this department. In sophomore English the importance of reading good books was continually stressed throughout the entire course. The elements that make a good term paper, and the criti- cal analysis of a novel was the main purpose of Junior English. The importance of communications was learned in Comm. Skills by applying the techniques of reading, writing, speaking, lis- tening, and observing. Due to the hard-working teachers we are successfully prepared for what the future holds. Eighty-seven seniors d six chaperones assembled at the Rockford and Rudd hools to await the arrival of the three Scenic Hawkeye age buses which would transport them to Minneapolis. Two urs later the buses arrived at Faribault for a short break- st stop and then on to the Minneapolis airport and Ford ant. The afternoon was spent shopping in downtown Min- apolis and Southdale and touring the Northwest Orient lfrlines. Viewing Cinerama's Gone With the Wind was e highlight of the evening. This success started out with their magazine earnings which was topped only by the record- breaking total of the previous year. Homecoming brought th Juniors honors with the prize-winning float, Head-off the Chicks . The football team saw an unprecendented number of Juniors winning starting positions and gaining experience on a team that finished in a tie for the conference champ- ionship. Perhaps the class of 69's biggest success was in their prom themed by Tender is the Night , under class officers Pat Ewald, Dan Schultz, Jessica O'Rourke, and Carolyn Brandau, a venture which highlighted their year. But the road to suc- cess followed by the class of 69 in their junior year can only be looked back on as they now travel further on this road in their senior year. INDUSTRIOUS .IUNIORS CREATE ny . The beautiful musical back- ground provided by a select chorus and accompanist Don- nette Abbott and the scenery provided by the art department added much to the performance. Students in all grades were involved in several ways. There were those selected for the cast, townspeople, and dancers. Many volunteered their services to stage crews, prompting and lighting. The large attendance testified to both the hard work of the students and the success of their production. . . p 5 Nj,-ep I . if N 'W ,ef ' ' f .-'st hes ! vb A I i .1 'umg jsg M' Y 1 . ,. . - V 4, ,z u 1' ,la xmp f-lqr l'-, I f 3. f s ' '77 if .A 'i' E l-.E :, aA ' ,C ' ,. .:-. The fifteen member staff, advised by Mrs. Helen Adams, endured many long evenings and close deadlines. En thusiasm and eagerness described the staff members who were guided by editor Linda Geilenfeld in preparing a mem- orable yearbook-the 1968 Warrior. The staff started out rather large when students signed up, but it soon dwindled down to the faithful few when the real work began. The experience of putting to gether the 1968 Warrior has been at times frustrating an hectic but always rewarding. Most of the staff will remem ber long work hours spent in the small annual room, bu most of all we will remember the good times and the jo that comes from working for a common goal. To so many people, I owe so much thanksg to those wh worked just a little bit longerg to those who made the extr effortg to those who were not on the staff but would stop i just to visitg and to those who pitched in and weren't eve on the staff. Assistance on the 1968 Warrior came from a staff of en thusiastic volunteers. A special thank you to Barb Batty who shared my responsibilities and devotion and whose ed itorial advice, moral support, and long hours of work mad my work more enjoyable. The history of pictures this book provides is the result o the excellent photography staff we had.
