SO CLASS HISTORY THIS IS YOUR LIFE, CLASS OF '61 As we reach the second plateau of our lives, we bring to light the story of our past four years and are proud to be the last graduating seniors of our alma mater, Old Rock High. Now we shall turn this T.V. spectacular over to Mr. Ted Hakes, our class advisor. Mr. Hales: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Mr. Granger: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Mr. Hakes: Class: Do you recognize these names=—Elsie Thatcher, Marge Shaffer, Gloria Wittung, and Pam Miller? Weren't they our Freshman president, vice-president, secretary, and reporter? Right you are. What about these people--Larry Shindeldecker, Elsie Thatcher, and Loretta Graham? Why, of course, they were our sophomore class officers. And weren't Loretta Graham, Gary Davis, and Marge Shaffer our junior officers? You bet. Since you really seem to be on the beam tonight, tell us who your senior class officers were. As we recall, they were Wilma Fast, Karen Frahm, and Bob Ransbottonm. Thinking about bur New York excursion brings to mind our travel club leaders--Elsie Thatcher, Wilma Fast, Connie Johnson, Joanna Frit- Zinger, Larry Shindeldecker, Loretta Graham, and Bob Ransbottom. Now we wish to display our all-American athletes. The football team consisted of: Gary Davis (co-captain), Dave Leighner, Bob Ransbot- tom (co-captain), Jim Shafer (3rd team, Limaland), Doug Stoller (ist team, Limaland), Danny Swander (all-conference team), John Taylor, and Otto Wilson. Our basketball celebrities were Larry Shindel- decker and Co-captain Dick Sapp. Didn't our football team finish with a 4-6 record and didn't our basketball team beat St. Henry in the first tournament game? That's right! Our Homecoming attendants were: freshman--Marge Shaffer, Sophomore--Pam Miller, junior and senior--Karen Frahm. Elsie Thatcher and Bob Ransbottom reigned over our Homecoming fes-— tivities. Do you remember who cheered the team on to victory? Were they not Elsie Thatcher and Pam Miller during our freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and Karen Frahm and Elsie Thatcher in our senior year? And now a word from our sponsor, Mr. Boyd Granger, Rockford High School principal. Please don't ring the fire alarms, because it's giving me gray hair. And now back to This Is Your Life. Thank you, Mr. Granger. Our next field of interest is dramatics. Say, Mr. Hakes, didn't someone give you the nickname of Cecil B. De- Mille for your two big productions, Soup to Nuts and Creweuts and Longhairs? Yes. My casts were: Gary Davis, Elsie Thatcher, Wilma Fast, Paul Ledasor, Loretta Graham, Ralph Shindeldeck r, Doug Stoller, Karen Frahm, Connie Johnson, Larry Shindeldecker, Marge Shaffer, Bob Rans- bottom, Joanna Fritzinger, Mary Anderson, Rex Thatcher, Larry Sell, and Bonnie Copeland. By the way, Mr. Hakes, may we reverse the order of this program a bit and ask you a few questions? All right. if they aren't tougher than t Do you remember those spectacular band a Could you name all those participating? Yes, they were always late for attendance check. I believe they were as follows: Mary Anderson, Dick Beougher, Jim Butcher, John Farmer he average, nd chorus performances? Wilma Fast, Marvel Fleming, Karen Frahm, Joanna Fritzinger, Loretta Graham, laney Hawk, Connie Johnson, Joanne Provei, Bob Ransbotton, Gary Rutledge, Marge Shaffer, Doug Stoller, Rex Thatcher, and Marge Zizelman. Didn't you also have a girls' ensemble? Yes, we did. They were: Marze Zizelman, Nancy Hawk, Mary Ander- son, Wilma Fast, Marvel Fleming, Marge Shaffer, Connie Johnson, Karen Frahm, and Loretta Graham. Now let's go back a few years to test your memory. Who were the Mercer County Honor Band members? Iry as I may, I just can't seem to remember then. They just happen to be Wilma Fast, Connie Johnson, Joanna Fritzinger, Marge Shaffer and Loretta Graham. Also, two band personnel were men- bers of a trombone quartet which received a superior rating in the state music contest. They were Loretta Graham and Bob Ransbotton. CLASS HISTORY (CONTINUED) Mr. Hakes: Let's go back to the original routine; I'm being paid to ask the questions. Who were chosen to represent our class at Buckeye Girls’ and Boys' State? Class: That's simple enough. Marge Shaffer and Bob Ransbottom. Connie Johnson and Rex Thatcher were their alternates. Mr. Hakes: Who will make the best housekeeper? Class: It's hard to tell, but Mary Anderson won the Betty Crocker Home- maker of Tomorrow award. Mr. Hakes: Name several of the places our class has visited in the last four years. Class: Well, Superior Coach and WIMA-TY, Lima's TV station, Dayton Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, Middletown Armco Steel Mills, and our chemsitry class to Lima Sohio Refinery. Then came our fascinating trip to New York City. Mr. Hakes: Where did your Junior Prom take place? Class: On a Tropic Island. Preparing for this prom was an exciting ex- perience which we shall never forget. Mr. Hakes: Can you possibly remember your class colors and flower? Class: Certainly. Our colors were light blue and white and our flower was the American Beauty Rose. Mr. Hakes: Very good. Let's see, are the brains of the outfit here? I think I can see them. Do you remember who they were? Class: We think that Esther Seawell was valedictorian and Robert Ransbottom was salutatorian. We were also privileged to have two Merchant Ma- rine appointees; namely, Robert Ransbottom and David Leighner. Mr. Hakes: Right you are. In closing this telecast, do you wish to make any comment to the audience? Class: Yes, we do. We all hope to live by our motto: With the ropes of the past we shall ring the bells of the future. Mr. Hakes: Thank you and goodnight from all of us here at WRHS-TV in Rockford, Ohio. --Compiled by Loretta Graham Robert Ransbottom Necest feesenalt, Wilma Fast Karen Frahm SENIOR Ralph Shindeldecker Meet Kikeehy Le Bee ret, Esther Seawell Robert Ransbottom Wroat Prisahhy Elsie Thatcher SUPERLATIVES Robert Ransbottom Robert Ransbottom Loretta Graham Connie Johnson Marlene Sealscott Dick Sapp Larry Sell Terry Gehm Esther Seawell Joanne Proveci Marlene Sealscott Otto Wilson Larry Putman Terry Gehm CLASS WILL I, Mr. D.
