DEDICATION One of our teachers retired at the close of the last school year, 1949-50, having taught for thirty-tiro years, twenty-five of which were in teaching in the Rockford School. She was born in Rockford and graduated from Rockford High School. For her loyalty, fine character and the love which she showed for our school during the years she, was associated with it we wish in this small way to honor Mrs. Nora B. Whitley, now living in Chandler, Texas, by dedicating this the yearbook of 1950-51 to her. We wish for her many happy years of full living. The seniors express their appreciation to the board of education for the many hours they have devoted in making our twelve years in school happy and successful years. By providing an experienced faculty and a well-kept building our education has helped us reach the place in life that we feel will help us to further our education in higher institutions of learning or to make a success in life in the fields of service we enter. The present board of education includes: L. W. Merkle, President; Philip Runyan, Vice-President; Walter Shaffer, Wilbur Stover; Charles Buel; and Stanley Bricker, Clerk. In September of 1947 forty freshmen met in the homeroom with Mr. Weisen-born as advisor, choosing the following officers: Mary Roebuck, President; Betty Pond, Vice-President; Doris Mefferd. Secretary; Bill Rutledge, Treasurer. In the fall we chose Doris Mefferd as the attendant from our class to represent us at the Home-Coming. A skating party was held at Sun Set Park. In the year 1948 we entered our sophomore year with an enrollment of forty-three. Mr. Shank was our advisor. Officers elected were: Ben Williams, President; Bill Rutledge, Vice-President; Don Schaadt, Secretary-Treasurer. Mary Roebuck was chosen as our sophomore attendant for Home-Coming. Another party was held at Sun Set Park. As juniors in the year 1949 with an enrollment of only thirty-sewn pupils, Mr. Hoover was our advisor. Officers were: Bob Stover, President; Don Schaadt, Vice-President; Jerry Bollenbacher, Secretary-Treasurer. Jane Bollenbacher was chosen junior attendant for Home-Coming. Our first social function of the year was the Senior-Junior Party which was a Sadie Hawkin's Day event. The junior play, Seventeen is Terrific, followed. In the spring the annual Junior-Senior Reception ended our social activities for the year. Back again in 1950 our enrollment still remained at thirty-seven. Although one of our members, Mary Roebuck, moved to Drbana, we were happy to welcome Clifford Sommers into our class, thus keeping our number the same as when we were Juniors. Mr. Hoover again was appointed our class advisor, with officers as follows: Dallas Butcher, President; Jerry Bollenbacher, Vice-President; Secre- tary-Treasurer, Mary Ann Gilson.
