We entered the kindergarten with a greeting from Miss With- row. Under her guidence, we learned finger painting, built a post office, and built our own little house. Not wanting to tire us little folks out, we were provided with milk for our morning lunch and took naps on our comfortable little rugs. The first grade was a little different for us. Miss Williams and Miss Frye showed us the art of printing the alphabet. After we finished the 'Dick and Jane Reader, we were pro- moted to the second grade. Mrs. Miller directed us in our play, Hanzel and Gretel. She also directed us in our first taste of arithmetic-addition, Our activities really increased in the third grade. With Mrs. Allen and later Mrs. Shultz, we made candles, frosted glasses, and had scrap metal and milk-weed-pod drives. ln our last lap of grade school, we were tutored by Miss Turner, who taught us dfiscipline as well as multiplication tables. The big highlight of the year was the puppet show that we gave to the rest of the grade school, We had now reached the last year of Elementary school, the sixth grade. From Miss Streeter we learned about the United Nations. We also learned how a court functions, and set up our own court. Of course some of us were honored by being safety patrol boys and girls. We were now looking toward new horizons. First Junior High, with Miss Chick and Mr. Eby. It was a little confusing at first, to get used to changing classes every hour, but we soon got used to it. As well as learning seventh and eight grade subiect we presented two plays, an Easter play and 'Cheaper by the Dozen. Now at long last we were entering High School. Despite the mild taste we had had of Junior High, we were alittle awed as our group of 94 freshman made their schedules. Moving on to the tenth grade, we were old hands in high school. We settled down and began thinking seriously about earning money for our senior trip. We entered our Junior year with enthusiasm and with the thought of the senior trip in our minds. We presented the play, 'You Can't Take lt With You, directed by Miss Zimmerman. The theme for our Junior- Senior Prom and Banquet was 'Evening in Paris. it was very beautiful and a booming success. Our senior year began! The activities become of more importance to us because the time was so near for the trip. We gave our Senior play, entitled, 'House Without Windows. directed by Miss Zimmerman. You think examination questions are toughg answer that one! Just what kind of a job do you want? And, difficult though it may be to find, the right answer here can spell the difference in the happiness you enjoy the rest of your life. If I might offer one suggestion on the right job for anyone it would be this. . .Find Something You Like to Do, Then Do It Well. Like to farm? Then by all means farm. Like mechanics? Then direct your job hunting or further training to things mechanical. There are thousands of ways to earn your living, but never forget your chances of success are greater in a field you like, than in doing something you find distasteful. Should you stay at home or go elsewhere? Many types of career require that you leave home. Yet if your goal is a pleasant home life and regular employment it is probable that you can find that right in Rockford. fWe, at Wolverine will be pleased to discuss the opportunities we have to offer in factory and office., One final thought. If you try something and really don't like it, don't be afraid to get out and find something new. Yet at the same time first consider whether it's the job that needs changing, or your outlook on it. Often merely backing off from a situation and re-examining it from a new viewpoint gives one the proper perspective to adjust most successfully to life. But with it all, graduates, whatever you do, wherever you go, our be st wishes go with you. Sincerely, V. W. Krause Chairman of the Board slw ku I N - .
