REGENT'S CCLLEGE FCUNDED 1984 Regent's College is an 11 acre campus situated in the midst of Regent's Park. In 1984 Rockford College purchased the head- lease of the former Bedford College from the Crown Commission- ers and founded a new institution. Dr. Norman Stewart is the President of Regent's College as well as Rockford College. The rest of the administrative staff is British and includes Mr. .lohn Kelly, the Vice-President and Miss Pat Salmon, the Bursar. Five Rockford College faculty staffed the Rockford program: Dain Trafton, the Academic Dean: Dr. Gordon Ross, the Assistant to the Academic Dean: and Dr. Strickler, Mr. Gilg, and Mr. Dedrick, faculty. Mrs. Barbara Strickler was the Dean of Student Services and headed a staff of Pixie Barrett, Assistant to the Dean: and Resident Assistants, Tracey Layng, Lucy Rothstein, Dave Seck, and Lisa Godde. The Residence Hall offered housing to many different London programs. In Spring Semester there were students from the Okla- homa State graduate program in architecture, the Antioch Col- lege in a creative writing program, Suny-Oswego in New york studying broadcasting, and Europeans studying business with the European Business School. The Hall has room for 186 students and was almost full both semesters. Most of the residents stayed for one semester, but the dorm did accomodate several short term programs and two or three exciting summer programs. Reid Hall is a four story building with pantries on each floor and one laundry room. The rooms are single and double combinations on each floor. The third floor was a women's floor and the other three were co-ed by sections. The bar, refectory, and book store are in an adjoining building, so the students don't have to walk outside to eat and drink. Of course, the emphasis of a residence hall in London is on getting out to do things, but the dorm did offer quite a few activities throughout the year. There was a welcome back and farewell disco party at the beginning and end of each semester. There was also a Halloween party, a punk party, games in the park, football teams, a weekend at Harlaxton Manor, pub crawls, a Valentine's Day Dance, and an afternoon tea with the President. There were occasional free tickets to Camden Palace Cone of the biggest nightclubs in London! and other interesting places. The Rockford students also ventured all over England and the continent of Europe. 6 Regent's College Big Ben's tower along the Thames. ' Zz' .- ,, '..f'-ff' A a.. , ,I ,1 -f i gifm ' 3, 1 1 14 1' ' .
