From decus may we now educe clecorum? Step to step beyond trim-iviecl brick We still risk seasonal lightnings. Verity Or Veritas, shall books and microscopes Resolve all nucleons, upbreed each cell, New-braid deft proteins, medullated coil Sufficient as for psyche? For a soul? The charge is graduate and gradual, Stepped-up magnetic: axis, tension, toil, Induction and eduction. Where? As here And all-wheres. Earth is campus, but its stars Burn out. What substance then? ls most decorum Reserved as quilts for cotfins? Verified, Are we last spume for galaxies ungeared? Truth is perhaps indecorous for us Waylaid in star-lanes. Clays and zygotes breed No ashen Yggdrasils to bind our world. Mere rainrot, suncrack, catalyst enough, Annihilates - before the planets split. Once there were cities, Uruk, Anyang, Knossos, Cities there are unfound, all tractates lost. Indecorus truth, perhaps. All fields in transit, ln space-time weightless, r.p.m. uncertain, Shall we try surds for sounds, call odds as even? We calibrate our caves, cull shards and scrolls, Hunt bamboo slats, scan bones and rags. We read Old student tablets, merchant taxfiles, hoard Prayer and poems, soulstamps, say, They said. Beyond bronze mirrors, bracelets, necklace fade, Beyond burned flashbulbs, screentracks, ietships spread To radar blips cold-chiseling deadhead moons, Still we go clambering middens, line and spade For spoil of words and twist our brains to spell Gaunt hymns, far names, words friend to friend in exile, Paralogical lovesongs, fables, fabliaux. This parallax still figures, Surds perceived Absurd compute to still insistent sums Through syllogism from a premise bred Of its own cost in stardust. Stacks of cards and papers must be filled out before classes can begin. One of the lighter activities which also has a purpose is the wearing of beanies by the fresh man men. Upon meeting an upperclassrnan, a freshman must tip his beanie. This gives the freshmen and upperclassmen an opportunity to get acquainted The upperclassmen say it's an ice breaker - the freshmen say it's a nuisance.
