The entire student body is included in this association, which may be called the instrument through which Rockford's social policies are formulated and enacted. It guides the community life of the college and protects the freedom of each individual. ' The Board makes, revises, or abandons the laws of College Government to accord with changes that time must bring. It also cooperates in carrying out faculty recommendations and in enforcing rules. Important individual cases are brought to the examination of the Judiciary committee which has as its chairman the Vice-President of the College Government Association. ' Q N . There seemed to be two barriers in our way before we could finally follow the smooth pathway leading us toward our ideals and aspirations. Tolo initiation and the Freshman show helped us to open the first gateway on our pathg once inside we were cordially greeted by former Freshman classes. Helping hands were ex- tended to us over the jagged flagstones toward the second gate- way, lower than the first. This we opened successfully by means of the Freshman play, 'Alexander and Campaspe', which gave us at last the feeling of conquerers. After that valiant attempt, we knew ourselves to be at last full-fledged members of our college, and we accepted the Sophomores' torch with a promise to keep it burning forever. 1' so gl .lL 4- Q I Q, Zi 1 mwsm -'J JuuE.T' HWITIATIOVT ' DAY A vf -4 'PEl'HTEl1TS- Fnesnmm-run-new ' ' 1 s ex I' A TL? When she reaches the steps of the throne. she kneels to the former queen who places a wreath of violets on her head. The new queen in Illflt crowns her predecessor with forget- ine-nots. Then the queen and her court watch the graceful and brilliant pageant of Xlay Party. 'l'his year it was adapted from Yoltaire's story.
