Rockdale Future Farmers started their year of events by attending the Area 111 Awards Banquet onAugust 30. At the banquet five boys received their Lone Star Farmer degrees. These were James Caffey, Ollie Young, Billy Tom McDaniel, W. T. Dyer, and Jimmy Smith. Mr. Maxwell, our chapter advisor, received for our chapter a Gold Emblem Chapter award. On September ll, the following chapter officers were chosen: Billy Boyd, president, Graham Young, vice-president, John B. Sapp, reporter, Johnny Tyler, treasurer, Cruz Garza, secretaryg Harry Fisher, historian, Sam Yoakum, parliamentariang Howard Key, sentinel, Emory Crunp. second vice-president, and Thomas Reed, third vice- president. Thirty-seven chapter members attended the State Fair on October 7, 1950. Billy Tom McDaniel was chosen district vice-president, and James Caffey was chosen Area lll vice-president at the district meeting on October 16. About forty chapter members attended a F.F.A.--F.H.A. joint social on October 20th. Miss Wynelle Newman was chosen chapter sweetheart on October 30th. The chapter basketball team consisting of Billy Boyd, Bobby Lynch, Sam Yoakum, James Caffey, Allan Cummings, Charlie Watson, and Rudy Ortego, won first place in the Milano F.F.A. Basketball tournament on December 9th. Gene Kelly and Billy Stauffer won a dairy heifer each in the Houston calf scrambles, and Jimmy Smith won a blue ribbon on his dairy scramble calf he won last year. Forty-six chapter members attended the second annual F.F.A.--F.H.A. joint social at the gymnasium on March 9th.
