LIEURENCE Our School Board is not seen by our students in everyday school life, yet the school could not function without it. With the welfare of the school and the student body in mind, the Board does all the long-range planning for new school buildings, new teachers, and better facilities. They give many hours of their time freely to enable our community to have a better, more efficient school system. As the firm banks of a river guide its course, so do the administration and faculty at Rock- creek High School direct the years of our life in school. 22 WAYNE LEE, Principal B.S., Marion College M.S., Indiana University Mathematics, Physics Senior Sponsor CLIVE MARKLEY A.B., Tri State Marion College History, Mathematics HERMAN DRABENSTOTT B.S.A., Purdue M.S., Iowa State College Chemistry, Vocational Agriculture Junior Sponsor JERRY ALLRED B.S., Taylor University Coach, Science Freshman Sponsor JAN FLECK B.A., Morehead State College Music Eighth Grade Sponsor SHIRLEY HOLMES B.A., Manchester College English, History, Spanish Seventh Grade Sponsor FRANCES SMITH B.A., Manchester College Vocational Home Economics Tenth Grade Sponsor JUDITH VOGHT B.S., Ball State College Commerce 24 VIRGINIA SLAUGHTER B.S., Butler University First Gride MARY LAMBERT B.S., Florida State University Second Grade PHYLLIS WELCHES B.S., Manchester College Third Grade BETTY TITUS B.S., Marion College Fourth Grade ESTHER MITCHELL B.S. The old man dies and sends his child, Charlie, to Larry. Larry ' s fiancee and his aunt do not want the child. When the child arrives, they dis- cover that Charlie is a girl. Her uncle Aleck accompanies her and they are typical back- woods hillbillies. The aunt makes Aleck a butler but does not know what to do about the girl. Larry ' s fiancee, who is marrying him for his money, and his aunt try to get rid of the girl. Charlie ' s uncouth manners send Mrs. Smythe-Kersey and Vivian into a tither and they leave. Mortimer seems a bit friendly toward the girl. In a last desperate attempt to get the girl to leave, Mrs. Farnham and Vivian invite Charlie to dinner hoping that she will behave terribly. In the meantime Mrs. Smythe- Kersey returns and loses her pearls which Mrs. Farnham hides in Charlie ' s room. Eleven months pass and Larry invites Charlie and Ale ck to dinner. Charlie has changed and is beautiful. Many men, including Ted and Mortimer, ask Larry for her hand in marriage. He refuses them and then is so taken by her new manner that he asks her to marry him and she happily accepts.
