They received the lst place trophy in their division and then they went on to the State Marching Contest in Sac City and also won a lst- rating. In the spring they marched at the Tulip Festival in Orange City. The music concerts held this year consisted of both of the music groups, band and vocal. On November 2 they held their Pop Concert. The vocal groups held a Christmas Concert on December 18. Both band and mixed chorus went to the Sioux County Festivals this year. In February the band went to the band festival in Sioux Center with guest conductor Frank Peirsol, and then in March, the mixed chorus went to their festival in Orange City. On April 31, the vocal and band had a concert presenting a preview of the songs they were to sing and play at the state large group music contest. Track Our track team was another of our ath- letic groups that went to the top. They went to track meets at Alta, Cherokee, Hull, Aurelia Cdistrictl and at Des Moines Cstatej. The talent consisted of groups of the high school students. We were even honored with the presence of Elvis Presly. At seven that evening the girlls basketball game began. Between the two games we held our coronation exercises and after another exciting basketball game, all of the students and alumni were invited to stay for lunch.
