EDITORIAL We, the class of 1945, present this year book, The Rock', as an endurable and an indelible memor ial to our high school days, Our high school years were spent in years of war, As freshmen, in 1941, we received the news of Pearl Harbor and the declaration of war, Pos sibly we d1d not entlrely understand the thorough and perslstant meanlng of that great catastrophe until this present year, We had gone along nor mally, happily and entirely content. However, durlng this past year we have all been drawn closer to the grlm realism that soon our high school days will be over, and we would have to go, along wlth others preceeding, into lndivl dual careers and collectlve competltion Many f us know exactly what we desire to do. For so a there was no choice, Uncle Sam had priorlty, A for others, it seems as if uncertalnty dOm10Bt9S thelr minds. In despite of the uncertalnties, worry, and the hardships of abnormal times, we can, neverthe less, look back upon our high school days as the best years of our lives Did the war affect our high school days? Literally, yes: Fundamenta ly, For some, the prospect of immediate success dropped from our ranks when high wages were of ered Most of us who remained definitely had to work hard er and seemed to be constantly occupied with other matters beside our school work But this did not affect our scope and quality of learning and our ac qulring the most sure and soundest education obtain able Thanks to our untiring and devoted faculty we have come through with the feeling of ultimate success We all hope that next year's class can be graduated into a world of peace and prosperity We hope that they can look forward to a certain occupation or goal We could not, but we are extremely thankful and appreciative for the wonder ful opportunities of education and progress found in this great country which can be found in no other Thus, we leave our high school days w1th delightful memories, and we go forth with hope and optimism. n u - - ' ' , . o y 0 , s Q S 110. and a good time looked too convincing.
