SChOOL HI'TORY The flrst school sesslon to be held in Rock Valley xas in a house down by the Rock Rlver It was later moved to the present slte of Mrs Dischler's home, elther because of the fishlng ablllty of the students or deslre for a better locatlon Thls house had a double llfe and serv ed the people as a school on week days and church on Sunday M155 Shlpnan was one of the Sunday school teachers ln th1s rouse In about the year of l885, a bF1CK buildlng was erected ln the center, f9C1HQ south, of the block where our present school stands Thls lot along wlth the church and other school lots xas donated by Mr Warren, one of the flrst settlers in thls communlty Mr CUmmlD5S and lr Pember were members of the school board during the exist ence of the old school Mr Fule was superin tendent ln the old school The flFSt graduates from the Rock Valley the year l894 In the hlstory of the school the record show that there were seven years between 1885 and 1987 that there were no graduates In 1909 the pr sent school was bullt There were eleven graduates the flrst year from the new school Slnce 1894 there have been 364 graduates from the school An lurn1 'SSOC18t1OH was organlzed 1n 1902, wlth a membersrlp of 54 Thls organlzatlon was successful for a number of ye rs but has slnce been dropped The Normal Train1ng Department was estab lished in loll Thls department 18 controlled for the greater part by the State Department of Publlc Instructlon Therefore a hlgher standard of work 1S rcqulred of lormal Tralnlng hlgh Schools than of other schools 1n the :tate ?
