Army STANLEY PIVIK CLASS HISTORY Four years ago a group of green freshmen wandered into Rock Springs High School to prove to the school that they were a class never to be forgot¬ ten. Erna Radalj and James Ferrero achieved distinction by receiving the freshman Cros Ventre pins. Our class officers—Tom Kos, President; Joe Loisate, Vice-President: Frank Morgan, Secretary; and John Whalen, Treasurer—worked hard, and the freshmen ended with a bang by winning the Citizenship Cup. After a peaceful summer the group again entered R.S.H.S., nearly as green as they had left it. They were still dubbed underclassmen ' ' by the haughty seniors, but they proved to be as capable as the year before with Tom Kos, President: Dorothy Manley. Vice-President: Wanda Pryde Secretary; and Bill Rogers, Treasurer. The year came to an end with final examinations and prayers that their junior year would be as successful as their sophomore year. The junior year proved to be the most exciting of all. The junior class gave an assembly that couldn ' t be beat. With Bing Sinatra. chorus girls, and their own Tiger Band, they gave everyone a big thrill. The high¬ light of the year was the Junior Prom. For this occasion the juniors worked hard to turn the gym into an Old Fashioned Garden.” Alice Skubic reigned as queen and Barbara Johns. Rena Tatro, Kathryn Cook, and Dorothy Bluhm were attendants. To make the year even more successful they won the Citizenship Cup again. The ambitious officers were Erna Radalj, President; Norma Fearn, Vice-President: Dorothy Man- ley, Secretary; and Bruce King, Treasurer. Finally, after much wondering and worrying, they reached the goal toward which they had worked. At last they would be treated with respect by the underclassmen. The Senior-Alumni Dance was a success financially and socially, with the help of John Taylor, President: Frank Potochnik, Vice-President; John Sulentich, Secretary, and Bernard Col- lopy. Treasurer. At the end of the semester the boys in the class dwindled down to a very few. The seniors lost boys to the Navy, the Army, and the Marines. Finally the long-awaited Senior Week and Class Day came. Commencement marked the end of four years. This night was the last time that they would walk down the aisles of the Auditorium as students of Rock Springs High School. 22 3n fHntturtam JOHN SULENTICH (GIN) Quiet and unassuming, yet fun-loving and friendly. John was known to almost everyone in Rock Springs High School. His ready appreciation of the humor¬ ous and his keen understanding endeared him to both students and teachers. During his years here he won the respect and affection of all. The 1943 Sagebrusher 23 JUNIOR CLASS GROUP I Paul Amizicb. right —Andy DeCora. Jonn Stacey. The season was strictly off and on. ' Rock Springs winning four, tying one, and losing three. The most thrilling games of the season were with Lara¬ mie, Kemmerer, Casper, and Green River. The Casper game was by far the most outstanding game. In this event, the Tigers almost beat a very overconfi¬ dent team. The Superior game was played in sub-zero weather, which explains the 0-2 score. The Tigers closed the season with a successful victory over Green River. 32 BASKETBALL The Tigers began the season with high hopes and six lettermen: Kos, Brown, Yerkovich, Harris, Buston. and Rogers. The team had an off and on” season, playing good ball some games and lackadaisical ball other times. The Tigers showed the fans they were capable of playing good ball when they defeated the strong Cheyenne team. In the annual District Tournament, Rock Springs was off to a good start when they trounced Kemmerer 48-38. However, in the second game a slow-moving Afton crew beat a slower-moving Rock Springs team, 25-20. In order to play Green River for third and fourth place, Rock Springs beat Evanston 47-30. The Tigers then won over Green River and took the third place trophy. Kos and Yerkovich. by their out¬ standing play, won places on the All-District team. 33 1944 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE September 15.
