Class Prophecy May 15, 1965 Dear Diary, Today was a very exciting day at Eastern Air Lines, Flight 537 had landed at Douglas Municipal airport at Charlotte, Bonnie Reel, incoming hostess, andIchatteda while, She handed me the passenger list; kinda' smiled and said, ''Recog- nize any of these ? ! I glanced over the list hurriedly; walked to the ramp of the plane and began to greet my pas- sengers, Imagine my surprise when I recognized some of my former classmates of '55 among them, Mrs. Jimmy Mundy, the former Frances Stroupe, and her three red-headed kids were the first to board the plane. She told me that they were going to Florida to join Jimmy, who was in spring training with the Yankees, As we were chatting, who should walkup but Linda Primm, We noticed that she stillobtained her wonderful way of attracting people. Vernon Brotherton, C. E, McCorkle, and Elizabeth Bal- lard were with her. Linda was flying to Miami where she would work with Arthur Godfrey ona television show as a ''pop!'' singer. Lt. C. E. McCorkle, a graduate from West Point, was flying to Tampa where he would join a Squadran at McDill Air Force Base, Vernon Brotherton, business man from New York, was on his way to Ellinor Village for a much needed rest and Liz, a Pinkerton Detective, was on a case which would take her to Cuba, As flight departure was ‘called I hurriedly settled the rest of my passengers since I was anxious to return to my friends to talk more about our school days, While we were talking, I asked about the rest of our classmates, [ learned that Joan Del- linger is still living at Lowesville makinga home for Russell and their two children, Joyce Duck- worth, fashion editor of the ''Vogue,'' is now living in Chicago, Kenneth Sigmon, a stockbroker on Wall Street, is doing very well for himself, Fred Killian, a chemist at State University, is doing research on Nickels for Know How,!! Joy Goodson is inChina where she is active inmissionary work. Jane Wilson, world famous news correspondent, is in West Berlin working for Berlin's newest radio station, Wayne Heffner, fashiondesigner,is attending a fashion show in Paris, With him are Chris- tine Dellinger, his model, and Lorenna Kaylor, his secretary, Marciene Cash, hair stylist, and Merle Joy Black, artist, are in Hollywood working for M.G.M. Verlene Ballard, secretary for Jerry Goodson, diesel engineer, and Bub Ballard, scientist, are at White Sands working on an experiment of diesel rockets, Shirley Edwards is head nurse at Duke Hospital in Durham, Sylvia Ballard and husband, Dottice, are making their home in Charlotte, Jewell Perkins, now Mrs, Perry McConnell, is living in Lincolnton. Also, I learned that Sue Ballard, loyalto the old Alma Mater, is head of the Home Economics department there, Q As our flight ended, Murrey Sherrill, our pilot, stuck his head through the doorway to inform me that Pansy Sherrillis opening the Pink Poodle Night Club, ' Star attractions at her club are Francis Loftin, comedian, Ernestine Killian, pianist, and the girl with the golden-toned cornet, Carolyn Brotherton, Now Diary, I close with the feeling that the class of '55 is a great success.
