Class History In 1943, a long period of work, fun, and expectancy began for the class of now '55, The year of '51 found forty-three freshmen beginning their journey through highschool. Mrs. Estelle Sigmon was our home room teacher, Selected to lead the class through the first year were Murrey Sherrill, president; Joyce Duckworth, vice-president; Jerry Goodson, treas- urer; and Sylvia Morrison, secretary. Out of our freshman class Lorenna Kaylor, Linda Primm, Joyce Duckworth, and Joan Riddle were selected May Court attendants, At the beginning of the sophomore year, Joy Goodson was elected to head the class as presi- dent; Buddy Luckey, vice-president; Joan Riddle, secretary; and Ernestine Killian, treasurer, Mrs. Doris Maxwell was home room sponsor, Four of our freshman class members, Donald Sherrill, R.A. Watts, Harold Wilkinson, and Annie Mae Stephens, were no longer enrolled in our school, During the year we were well representedin basketball, baseball, cheerleading, and other activities, The fall of '53 brought thirty-three pupils together again as juniors. We had lost Buddy Luckey, Doris Stilwell, Kenneth Dellinger, Joan Riddle, Walter Wilson, Hoyle Saunders, Larry Ballard, and Billy Lineberger for various reasons. Ourclass officers were Jimmy Mundy, presi- dent; C. E. McCorkle, vice-president; Linda Primm, secretary; and Murrey Sherrill, treasurer, Due to an over-crowded school--auditorium used for study halls, elementary and high school libraries--we, the juniors, got our first big disappointment, No play! With much preparation and arrangement, we gave the seniors a banquet with Southern Plantation as the theme, Joy Goodson capably filled the position as banquet chairman, Mrs. Dorotha Erwin was banquet and home room sponsor. Now the class of once '43 has finally reached its goalfor which it has strived for twelve long years, Re-uniting with our class was Joan Riddle, who had added Dellinger to her name, In December, Joe Morrison, a former student of Rock Springs and an ex-service man, joined our ranks, ''Calling All Carrs'' was the name of the play given by the seniors. The play was directed by Mrs. Martha H. Baker. On graduation nightas we walked down the aisle, after receiving our diplomas, we knew that we were leaving Rock Springs, but Rock Springs would never leave us, These years together have produced memories for which time, years, and age can never erase, CG.
