Fifth Grade This year the fifth graders were busy with various activities. They reviewed the material learned the pre- vious year in math and learned about the first Ameri- cans in social studies. They also studied human emo- tions, the brain, the skin and the five senses in health. This years fifth graders were taught by Mrs. Wilma Moe and Mrs. Martha Cline. Sixth Grade The sixth grade began the year by viewing filmstrips on developing self-discipline. Some students utilized the ideas to help them get their homework, band practice, and other activities completed on schedule. Students visited Latin America and Canada by using textbooks and films and by tasting foods. In one se- mester half of the class studied weather and energy in science while the other class leamed how their bodies grow and function and how to take care of their bodies. Objectives in sixth grade math classes included the use of decimals and becoming familiar with the metric system. The language classes studied library skills and toured the high school library. At the culmi- nation of a newspaper unit field trips were taken to newspaper offices. The sixth grade teachers were Mrs. Linda Kincannon and Mrs. lulia Shrader.
