Fifty-five academically motivated, creative students en- tered grade four the latter part of August. Early in the year, Mrs. Mifflin's class studied different aspects of the tropical rain forests and deserts of the world. They also learned of early times and famous people in their own home state, Missouri. Multiplication and division, magne- tism and electricity have been highlights in Math and Sci- ence. To add to their knowledge and pleasure, for the second successive year, Mrs. Reid's class has corre- sponded with a fourth grade in Newington, Conn. They strived to put the l-YOU PEACE symbol to work, and made peace posters. Newspapers can be fun was the motto applied to the use of newspapers in the fourth grade classroom. This grade was taught by Mrs. Maradi Mifflin and Mrs. LaVona Reid. --'XM WI X NX N X ,ns fttt S is is X Bryan Slusher t Qs Q S Kim Smith . They also study the parts of speech and learned how each part is used in sentences. This is the year the pupils learn more about their emotions-why they react the way they do. The pupils suggest ways of dealing with situations, in which they experience their emotions. At left, Karl and Marlena show of their butter- fly collections. Y S ' .z .
