27 Years of Deotcafed Service Mrs. Dorothy QLowellJ Pierce retired from her fifth grade teaching position at Rock Port R-ll Elementary School at the end ofthe school year in May, following 27 years of dedicated services. Mrs. Pierce received her BS. Degree in Elementary Educa- tion from Tarkio College and began her earlier teaching in Rural Schools for three years. She then commenced teaching at Rock Portielementary schools, including sev- enth grade and later the fifth grade. Mrs. Pierce was named as one of the Outstanding Ele- mentary Teachers of America in 1974 on the basis of civ- ic and professional achievements. She was also nomi- nated for the 1979-1980 Northwest District Missouri State Teacher's Association for the OutstandingiEducator Award. . Mrs. Pierce is an MSTA and CTA memberg as well as a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. Her hobbies include antiques, flowers and reading. . The devotion and dedication evidenced in Mrs. Pierce's teaching profession the past 27 years has greatly benefit- ed and enlightened all those students whom she taught. She was a great asset to the elementary school system, and will be greatly missed.
