Stepping Out The sixth grade was a very important year because the teach- ers, Ms. Kathy Stratman and Mr. Richard Whitford tried to prepare the students for Junior High and High School. In math, fractions and decimals were stressed. Much empha- sis was placed on using proper English also. The students studied parts of speech, outlining, paragraph writing and did animal reports and other writing assignments. At the begin- ning of the year they wrote Haiku poems. New health and science books were used this year. The areas the books covered included mental and personal health, nu- trition, first aid, drugs, energy, weather and science. With all of the work they've done and the amount of effort put forth, these kids are eager to start Jr. High.
