The coaching staff. NTU the Bestw The members of the Blue J ay staff are dedicating this year- book to the football team. They were chosen for all the hard work and time they put into their successful season. With a record of 8-0-1 they qualified for the state playoffs, but were defeated by King City in the quarter-finals. A fan sent us a poem that we feel expresses our feelings best. A FAREWELL TO FOOTBALL The lights on the Held are dark. The cheers of the crowd are still. The jerseys turned in, not a game yet to play No more schedule yet to fulfill. Co-captains Jeff Mather and Jeff Blasnitz How they loved the games Their coach and their team. How happy it made them to be A small but important part of The Rock Port Blue Jay team. Twas not our fate to win the playoff game. We're so proud of you just the same. Shed no tears, hold your heads up high As there is no reason for shame. For seniors we give a special salute For the lights will light no more. For the rest of the team and our coach We hope for a big encore. There are eleven senior boys leaving that will be greatly missed, but we, along with the boys, hope that the team will be even better next year!
