This was an individualized program designed to help students improve all basic reading skills, with an emphasis on vocabu- lary and comprehension, and to encourage reading for pleas- ure. Mrs. Carol Harmon instructed the ungraded students. They studied the basic math, science, reading, language, and history subjects, as well as working on special projects throughout the year. X. , G Below: Kevin and Mark play badminton. Below: Ms. Hodges demonstrates serve. Fun and Fitness The girls' P.E. classes were held first semester. They were in- structed by Ms. Cheri Hodges. The girls did various activities such as playing volleyball and speedball, bowling, and work- ing on gymnastic equipment. The boys' physical education classes were taught by Mr. Mike Rader Cat leftj during the second semester. The boys played dodgeball, badminton, and basketball. Driver Education was instructed by Mr. Duane Smith. The students learned the basic driving skills as well as how to care for automobiles. Mr. Smith and Mr. Mark Dulgarian also taught the health classes. Margee practices on parallel bars. Helping Out Mrs. Burke looks up prices on new books. Once again the students of Rock Port High School were bles- sed with a fine staff of specially trained personnel. Ms. Janet Conboy ftop leftj served as junior high and high school gui- dance counselor. She assisted students in scheduling classes, working out personal and school-related problems, and plan- ning their careers. Mrs. Betty Burke was the Librarian for elementary and high school. She was kept busy ordering new books and sending out over-due book notices. Taking care of all the students many ailments was Mrs. Beverly Stewart, R.N. She also kept records on the weight, height, sight, and hearing of all the students.
