HISTORY AND CIVICS The history department was headed by Mrs. Betty Shaw, Her abundant en- thusiasm made her American and World History classes among the most interesting offered at Rock Port. Mr. Claude Whitchurch taught the two high school Civics classes as well as act- ing as guidance counselor. His many personal experiences added interest to these classes. . Mr. Claude Whitchurch. BS KSC Pittsburg, Kansas. When Mrs. Shaw talked, every- one listened, but by seventh hour it was sometimes difficult to con- jure up very much enthusiasm. When the junior American His- tory classes learned Mrs. Shaw was not returning, they gave her a party and crowned her Mrs, American History? class made three-dimensional Mr. Whitchurch's citizenship class enjoyed many lively discussions.
