Mrs. Barbara Marquart, A.B., Mrs. Betty Salfrank, A.B., Tar- Central Methodist College. kjo College, LANGUAGE ARTS AND SPEECH Mrs. Barbara Marquart taught Fresh- man and Sophomore Language Arts, and Mrs. Betty Salfrank taught Junior and Senior English and Speech. 'Mrs. Marquart's English classes gave interesting speeches. The City Slicker and Our Nell , a melodrama, was presented May 13. rv Students in speech characterize many different emotions. HISTORY AND CIVICS The history department was headed by Mrs. Betty Shaw, Her abundant en- thusiasm made her American and World History classes among the most interesting offered at Rock Port. Mr. Claude Whitchurch taught the two high school Civics classes as well as act- ing as guidance counselor. His many personal experiences added interest to these classes. . Mr. Claude Whitchurch. BS KSC Pittsburg, Kansas. When Mrs. Shaw talked, every- one listened, but by seventh hour it was sometimes difficult to con- jure up very much enthusiasm. When the junior American His- tory classes learned Mrs. Shaw was not returning, they gave her a party and crowned her Mrs, American History? class made three-dimensional Mr. Whitchurch's citizenship class enjoyed many lively discussions.
