UN I ORS A time to dance The crowning achievement of the Class of 1970 was the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. They had worked all year to pay for it, and had spent a frantic two weeks preparing for the big night. This year's busy Junior Class learned in their stand, in their play, and in their work on the Prom, an all-impor- tant factor that will aid them in the future-the importance of good leader- ship, Mr. Larry Danner, Sponsor Linda Bennington Patty Brooks Stanley Brooks Linda Brown Miss Kathy Baumli, Sponsor Carolyn Buttercase Greg Chamberlain John Cox Steve Davis JU This is the nervous-Wreck page. Besides having to make up notebooks for Mrs. Shaw and Writing term papers for Mrs. Salfrank, the Juniors Were involved with all the usual extra activities. During the football and bas- ketball seasons, they operated an almost non-profit vending business, and in April, had barely recovered from humorously giving a production before they raced to transform the drab, vast expanse of the Memorial Building into a semi-authentic Grecian para- dise in two Weeks, no more. Most ofthe stu- dents here will return, but only for one more year. Out of the entire hard-Working Junior Class, these five did more work than the other 39 put together, for they are the class officers. To them fell the job of seeing that everything was completed, and they took the blame if it Wasnit completed. From left to right, they are: David Kelton, Vice- President, Christy Perry, Secretary, Marion Derrossett, Treasurerg Diane Rolf, President, and Steve Shineman, Student Council Rep- resentative. The freshmen have had a busy year. Just getting reoriented back at RPHS was difficult, especially after a year of being upperclassmen at Watson and then being demoted to lowly underlings was almost too much to bear! The sophomores really socked to it the freshmen during their initiation and it is doubtful that they will soon forget it! Most of the time they were quiet and studious fmost of themj until County Government Day. Then the halls exploded with their posters and colorful campaign buttons. Giving a speech in front of the whole student body was rather terrifying, but in the long run, Worthwhile. It Was a wonderful year, with both good and bad times, but all of them profited. They learned a little Spanish and had fun practicing their newly acquired language, Most everyone participated in the Home- coming parade by making colorful posters and carrying them, Bulletin boards were always a project and many interesting and original ones were produced. On Halloween some students presented a skit, along with a Halloween party. Christmas gifts were ex- changed and a rather prolonged Christmas vacation was observed due to inclement weather. During Dental Health week all the students made posters designating proper dental care. All who made a poster re- ceived some toothpaste and a new tooth- brush. The year was filled with fun and hard work. All sixth graders were fast making preparations for their entrance into junior high.
