His assistant, a first-year swim coach is Richard Sell¬ ers. The boys ' season was very competitive and challenging. The team worked for a hard season and their work paid off. Dr, Ackerson was very pleased with the team ' s progress and determination. As he put it, It ' s really been a pleasure working with this team, They worked hard and although we ' re not win¬ ning a lot, there is the satisfaction that at every meet is seems that five or six swimmers improve their times. Girl Netters serve winning season The 1980 Girls Tennis team finished the season with a winning record of 8-5. Led by junior Kelly Fackel, the team placed high in the R.l. Invitational, Western Big Six, and the District tournaments. Al¬ though heavy with inex¬ perienced freshman and sophomores, the team did quite well. The junior varsity lost only one close meet. This year the girls qualified 3 for the state meet; Kelly Fackel for sin¬ gles, and Lori Miller and Carrie Wilson for doubles. The young interest in the team this year opens broad horizons for teams in the near future. Junior Kelly Fackel concentrates on her forehand. Senior Carie Wilson in the ready position. row 1-D.
