Homecoming Queen Tammy Davis and King Ralph Beswick were announced at the dance Saturday Night. Tammy is a cheerleader and Ralph is a Tri- Captain of the football team. A twenty-two foot high rocking horse carrying Goofy, Donald Duck and his three nephews were the Seniors’ clue to a first place float. After the assembly, the annual Home¬ coming Parade followed on the tradition¬ al route through downtown Rock Island. Featured in the parade were Rock Island High School’s first Homecoming Queen, Marie Metcalf Gillete, and the senior first-place float, “Rock-On”, a rocking horse starring well-known cartoon char¬ acters. Although the Friday game was lost to the Silver Streaks, the pre-game spirit was not. The Saturday dance end¬ ed the week of festivities with Ralph Beswick football captain, and Tammy Davis, cheerleader, crowned as the 74 Royalty. This year will not be remembered only by students and teachers, but also by the community as the one when school spirit and involvement was at the highest. 20 Homecoming
