Rocky Has Oktoberfest German Club, Rocky’s link with Germany, strived to learn more about the culture and cus¬ toms of that country. A German Oktoberfest and Christmas party were part of the learning experi¬ ences for German Club members. They conclud¬ ed their learning experiences with a trip to the Amana Colonies. 1. Dracula? Italian Student Discovers America This year, under the sponsor¬ ship of the Kiwanis Club, Giov¬ anni Calabrese, from Cantanza- ro, Italy, was Rocky’s exchange student from overseas. His American brother was Gary Edwards. Darcy Anderson and Garry Kee were AFS representa¬ tives in the summer, with Darcy studying in Chile and Garry in Costa Rica. In the spring, AFS club held an AFS weekend, where all Quad Cities area ex¬ change students lived in a home other than their regular hosts 1. Is Jill Rakus meeting the Great I impkin by surprise at an AFS meeting? 2. Rocky ' s three AFS students, Darcy Anderson, Giovanni Calabrese, and Garry Kee compare experiences of their travels. Dar¬ cy visited Chile, Giovanni comes from Italy, and Garry spent a summer in Costa Rica. 3. ■ Lit Club Contains Genius Reading and learning — one of Literary Club ' s goals. Thus year ' s club did that and had fun as well. Along with their literary discussions, the club had a Christmas party, ' % a paperback book exchange, and a weiner roast. A change of format was also part of the club ' s year; instead of dis¬ cussing well-known authors ' works, the club returned to discussing only members ' works. Literary Club concluded their year with the publication of their own magazine. 1. Intellectually oriented student finds stimulation in seri¬ ous literature. 2. The bookworms” of Lit.
