73 Seniors Inducted Into National Honor Society Earning good grades takes work, maintaining them takes more. The students inducted into the National Honor Society are those who man¬ age to keep their grades high during their years at high school. Seventy three students this year had culminated a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and were inducted into the ranks of the National Honor Society. These students were honored at an inductions ceremony in May, where they received a pin to signify their achievements. Later on in the month, they held a picnic, ending their senior year with a note of self congratulations for their preceding years of study. 1. National Honor Society officers are just hangin’ around. They are: RichBrems. Marc Johnson. Vicki Ackerson. and Dave Andrews. 2. Seniors who achieved a 3.50 grade point average were inducted into the National Honor Society. Members are FRONT ROW, J. Students Achieve Scholastic Honors As seniors, students face ques¬ tions about their futures. College applications, monetary award ap¬ plications, and scholarship appli¬ cations are part of every college bound senior’s year. The founda¬ tions for this hectic year is set dur¬ ing a student’s junior year by par¬ ticipation in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Seniors who scored exceptionally high on tests given their junior year received let¬ ters of Commendation. Those who attained a specified high minimal became National Merit Semi-Fi¬ nalists. This year, Rocky had three such scholars: Dave Hughes, Jon Jones, and Eric Carlson. 1. The National Merit Semi-Finalists alias the Three Musketeers: David Hughes, Jon Jones, and Eric Carlson. 2. Scoring exceptionally high on the PSAT test were the Letter of Com¬ mendation winners. SITTING: Earl McGinnis, Craig Demry, Dan Ingold, Colleen Bums, Joan Sulser. Student Journalists Are Commended Rocky students who found their mode of expression to be journalism were eligible for the National Quill and Scroll Asso¬ ciation. This award was given in recognition for the dedication and long hours of work put into school publications. Students involved with both Watchtower and Crimson Crier were those who received this award. Special recognition was also given to Jane Robinson who was chosen to receive the D.A.R. award. The Daughters of the American Revolution give this award yearly, to a girl chosen on the basis of outstanding leadership, citizenship, and responsibility. 1. Jane Robinson was this year’s D.A.R. win¬ ner. 2. Rocky’s outstand¬ ing journalistic students make up Quill and Scroll.
