Interest in the social studies phase of high school curriculum has been boosted this year by the mock political convention, field trips, lecturers, and subscriptions to weekly news maga¬ zines. The department ' s chief aim is to show how man lives in society through the study of history, man ' s past soci¬ ety; government, how the present so¬ ciety is governed; economics, how to earn a living in the future; and geo¬ graphy, the world in which society lives.
