HANSON Passing another milestone in Rock Island ' s history, the Board of Education brings to a close a busy school year, in which the members have maintained the high standard of education for which they are renowned. Serving as the media between the tax¬ payers and the school system, it is the duty of these members to see that all the students in the Rock Island school system get the best possible facilities, training, and guidance. Because of the increased cost of oper¬ ation, the members of the board have given many hours to the solving of finan¬ cial problems. Textbooks, new equipment, the select¬ ing of new teachers, and building im¬ provements are also more of the board ' s worries. Under the alert Board of Education, Rock Island senior high school has made marked progress during the past year, preparing students to take their place in the world as better citizens. 8
