SENIOR CLASS PLAY The successful play f'Smilin, Through, given by the senior class of IQ3O, still proved to be a favorite when the 1938 senior class presented it May 6. The lilting strains of the melody f'Smilin' Through, the lovely costumes and a beautiful garden setting provided a pleasing atmosphere, which will not soon be for- gotten. Those who very capably portrayed the characters were: Shirley Hallgren, known for her fine performances in several other prominent plays, now claiming the part of lovely Moonyeen Clare, talented Dick Langhinrichs, portraying the character John Carteret, Nloonyeenls fiance, and Howard Franck, noted for his splendid character roles, all featured players. David 'lScotty,' Terry, very ably handling-a double role, that of Jeremiah VVayne, the father, and Kenneth VVayne, the son, displayed more of his Hne dramatic ability, as did Miriam llflaxwell, his spirited Kathleen. Adding variety to the program was Wlihe Brink of Silence with its heavy plot. The cast included Carl XVelch, Sam Lane, Rohert Dasso, Roh Froude. All memhers of the advanced speech classes took part in the performance either as ushers, on technical committees or actors.
