Shifting enrollments and critical classroom shortages are putting the squeeze on millions of students. Armco is working to ease this crisis in our schools. We have manufactured more than 4.000 gymnasiums, auditoriums and classrooms. Some are actually portable. most are permanent —all of them are durable, attractive, economical steel buildings. To meet a constantly growing demand. Armco produces up to a thousand steel buildings a month. Their uses range from schools to automobile dealerships to shopping centers to manufacturing plants. As a basic materials company, we constantly look for new ways to use our products, and for new products and services to meet our customers' changing needs. This way of doing business has taken us into areas where you might not expect to find a steelmaker. It has taken us into titanium, specialty fasteners. offshore drilling equipment, and even into equipment leasing. We are not a traditional steel company. We never have been. Armco is different. Graduation ceremonies dramatized the final scene in each students’ high school education. 131 Athletics played an important role in the physical and social development of young men. 132 Girls' Physical Education programs provide a healthy outlet for competitive activities. 133 Educational aids played an important part in the instruction of our students. Cheerleader tryouts prompted several girls to test their skill at being elected cheerleader by the student body. Both spectators and players enjoyed the opportunity to be engaged in an athletic contest in the spacious gymnasium. Courses at Rock Hill attempted to provide each student with individual learning experiences. 135 Students at each grade level had the opportunity to participate in whatever activity that the school had to offer. The 1970 yearbook staff would wish to make certain acknowledgements upon completion of the 1970 Chieftain. Our sincerest gratitude is extended to the Rock Hill High School administration and faculty for their constant cooperation during those many occasions when they became affected in the compilation of this yearbook. To Mr. Ray Fox and all of the people affiliated with Osborne's Photographic Studio, we present our utmost thanks. For the advice, patience and guidance of Taylor Publishing Company, in particular Mrs. Barb Cape, we extend our gratitude. Finally, to anyone who aided in any manner the completion of this annual, the 1970 staff hopes that moments of enjoyable reading of this yearbook will be a token of our thanks to you. 136 V - • r t I f S ; .  • 1 • £ .? •v jti V 5 i .J t t  ; •  ' M - .
