Rock Hill finished fifth in the OVC after suffering heart-breaking losses to St. Joe, Coal Grove, Chesapeake, and South Point. The Red-men warriors posted the second best defensive average in the OVC as they gave up only 74 points. St. Joe, who won the OVC gave up a total of 70 points. Rock Hill topped the OVC for the year in the most points scored in one game as they clicked for 60 points against Symmes Valley. The Redmen also were in the records again as they figured in the fewest amount of points that were scored in one game. This was their 6-0 loss to St. Joe, and the closest any team came to upsetting the Flyers in 1964. PAUL WASHBURN--End FRONT: C. Delong, E. Stapleton, B. Payton, K. Davis, R. Stamper, B. Ackison, Coach Debo, Coach Lutz. Injuries and grueling practice sessions took their toll as the year progressed and the teams ranks depleted from day to day. In the final game, coach Hal Lockhart ended the season with a total of 17 upperclassmen. A total of nine seniors saw action through the year for the Redmen and each one carried his share of the burden well. Coach Lockhart raising the roof. 72 Reserves FRONT ROW L to R - J. Markel, E. Although they didn’t win the OVC, they won enough games to leave their mark in Rock Hill's history. 74 Boy, is this one close! The fine showing our team made this year was backed all the way by loyal fans. The school had a winning spirit as well as a winning team. Run! Run! Run! We can be proud of our boys not only for their playing but also for their sportsman-like attitude. They played to win but they never gave up if they lost. 75 One of the reasons for our team's attitude was Coach Lockhart. He encouraged our boys at every game. Here is a salute to a fine coach. Class Will Mom and Dad were talking the other night about a man who died without making a will. Dad said it was a cinch he couldn't take all his things with him, so why didn't he make arrangements to have them put just where he wanted it. The more I thought about it the more I felt our class ought to do something like that. I looked up wills and in most of them they said the person making the will was of sound mind. President - CHET HOWARD PATTY CALES I am not only an administrator, I am also a teacher. My job is to cultivate, inspire, fashion, refine, and direct youthful minds to the realization of their fullest potential. It is my job to lead you into habits of straight thinking, to distinguish between truth and error, and to know the difference between what is big and what is little. It is a pleasure to have known you as individuals and to have helped develop your interests and skills. I dare not minimize the importance of a single day's work, or a single word I may have addressed to you because of your intellectual interest, your school spirit, and your ambition to secure a good education. I am proud of you as a representative of the Class of Rock Hill High School. My dividends for life will be the respect and devotion of each member of this class. Executive Head Merrill Payne III The staff wishes to thank our advertisers fdr their financial interest. Without their help this book would not have been possible. It is our desire that the readers of this book graciously patronize these fine people. The outstanding photography in our book was done by Mr. Dale Tucker of Osborne Studios of Chillicothe. His patience and kindness were immeasurable. Mr. Payne, Mr. Willis, and all others concerned should be commended. The following are the 1965 yearbook staff: Judy Stamper Bill Wilson Linda Horton Kay Mullins Gloria Christian Bonnie Sanders Mike Stewart Brenda Pancake Callie Sharp Sharon Sites - Editor Mr. John Hayes - Advisor Class Prophecy Through the medium of my crystal ball, I was given a glimpse of the future of the Rock Hill Class of 1965. The year is 1975--Our class is living in one community on Mars. In one section of the community there is a hospital and the head space nurse is Sharon Sites and her assistants are Kay Bailey, Gail Neal, Sue Tibbs, and Sue Collins. The recreation center is busy with Jeannie Sanborn and Bonnie Sanders opening a dancing school. Working for them and teaching the latest dance steps are Judy Clay, Mary Sutton, and Sally McDonie. Brenda Kelley, owner of the Mars Space Supply, is very busy keeping the store clean and her helpers are very good workers. They are Clara Bruce, Betty Huff, and Beverly Wiley. Another section of our community is almost all farmland. Jerome Kline is a farmer with 200 acres. His hired helpers are Lester Brown, Dave Carmon, Don Barcus, Johnny Pancake and Roy Long. At .the Martian Soda Shop we have our great three piece band together who play space songs every night. They are Dave Davidson, Clyde Townsend, and Dale Richendollar. Also there are Martian waitresses. They are Janet Cleary, Pam Southworth, Jeannie Mumahan, and Annaette Webb. The owner of this soda shop is Bill Conroy. The space gym, almost like the Y.M.C.A., is always crowded with boys, and the owner, Bob Blankenship with his assistants: Steve Christian, Keith Davis, and Gary Doolin, are always showing the boys new exercises. We also have a gym for girls and Patty Thompson is the owner and her assistants are Betty Cade, Alice Dean, and Sue Mullins. In the town section of our community is a barber shop. Many of the people come to this place because they say that the owner is a good barber. The owner of course is Lawrence Bare. He has only one helper and that is Gale Richendollar. Next to the barber shop is the beauty parlor. The owner of this nice place is Janet Steed. Her beauticians are Sharon Blair, and Donna Lewis. Her manicurists are Sherry Lewis and Sharon Lewis. While living on Mars you have to have special shoes and clothes. The Space Department Store's owner is always busy getting all the Rock Hill graduating class fitted for the proper shoes and clothes. The owner, Walter Pennington, is cooperative and patient. It is a big and busy department store and Walter has plenty of good workers such as: David Pemberton, Rick Robinson, Sharon Legg, Linda Reed, and Johnny Pancake. The style is to wear space shoes and shirts that have the name Fuzzy written on them. It is very popular. Another part of the town is the space license bureau. We have very strict instructors and everyone learns to fly their space ship safely. The instructors are Janet Bruce, Dottie Delong and Rosemary Layne. Danny Haas was a very good basketball player at our school and now he is the Space Basketball Coach. His team includes about fifteen boys and his best players are John Ackison, Roger Gillespie, Frances Delong, and Paul Layne. They are all taller than Danny, but no one can beat him. 113 Instead of having the Askland Oil, we have the Space Oil Company, and the owner, Patty Cales, is very happy and pleased with her work. She hires very good workers and some of them are Linda Cremeans, Sharon Washburn, Sharia Delawder, Carolyn Lewis, and Mary Whitt. There are a couple of hotels and motels on Mars and Tennyson Hall, the manager, and Don Jones, the assistant manager, are working and checking to see if everyone has paid their bills. Of course there are some that have not paid and Tennyson and Don sent them a notice telling them that they owe $150. 00 for a month's rent. The following received notices: Eva Shope, Katherine Neal, Mildred Thompson, and Jean Sizemore. After paying the bill they were in debt for a year. We have a Space National Bank and everyone who has money puts it in the bank for safekeeping. The owner of the bank is William Wilson. The tellers are Kathy Besco, Joyce Cales, Loretta Stamper and Lois Kelley. The only person that doesn't put his money in the bank is Garland Johnson. It's not that he doesn't like the bank but he doesn’t trust anyone. Ronnie Clark, Leon Dalton, Ronnie DePriest, and Tom Sanders found uranium on one section of Mars. After a few days, they had millions of dollars and so they built an expensive restaurant. They hired girls to cook and some to be waitresses. They are Betty Murphy, Judy Stamper, Carol Morrison, Nancy Bell, and Jessie Wilson. Roger Webb is editor of the Martian Space Tribune and his helpers are Dane Wilds, Gary Wilson, Barbara Pancake, Wanda Mayhew, and David Perkins. They keep busy because everyone wants to be in the paper. One day there was a full page in the Martian Space Tribune about Cora Jenkins who was very popular. She talked in front of two-million people and was given a trophy for not being shy. There were many photographers taking her picture, such as: Eddie Hunt, Eugene McClain, Roger Kelley, George Waugh, Ronnie Koster, and Tom Justice. Everyone who needs a space ship always goes to the Mars Used Space Car Lot. The owner of this large business is Roger Henderson and his assistants are Eddie Cochran, Paul Washburn, and Ronnie Mc-Fann. Also on Mars there is an eight hundred room school house. The principal is Mark Caniff and the secretary is Phyllis DeMaggio. The faculty consists of James Boles, government teacher; Harold Duty, math teacher; George Robinson, English teacher; Don Sisler, shop teacher; and Kay Littlejohn, the foreign language teacher. Martian language of course.
