Mr. and Miss Rock Hill High School Invite You to Reminisce With The Chieftain Grades 9-12 ROCK HILL HIGH SCHOOL Enrollment 536 Rt. 3 Ironton, Ohio Dear Students: I am grateful for the opportunity to have been your teacher through the past four years that have quickly slipped away. My job is more than helping a student to earn his diploma. It is my job to lead you into habits of straight thinking, to know right from wrong, to create a desire to do something useful, and to find peace and happiness in your life’s work. As you read this annual again and again, you will recall many happy memories of your years here at Rock Hill High. As future years unfold, 1 hope that you will sometime cast a fleeting thought my way and remember me as your teacher. Sincerely yours, Merrill Payne MERRILL PAYNE Executive Head J. M. SHIPLEY Principal To the graduating class of Rock Hill High School of 1964 goes my earnest wishes for a successful and gratifying future. I hope each of you will realize the ambitions, dreams and aspirations that you have developed while a student at Rock Hill High. May you always have a belief in the worth and dignity of your fellow man and gauge your life accordingly. It has been my desire to make this the happiest year of your life as well as the most successful academic realizations. Your response and the awards you have earned have exceeded my fondest dreams. To the teachers and students who have labored so hard to make this possible, 1 say thanks. To the staff who has made this fine annual possible goes my heartfelt appreciation. May the years ahead cause you to realize how dear and sincere your school associations have been. Sincerely, J. M. Shipley ALTHEA ANN BUTLER Marshall University A.B. WE ARE CONVINCED that the continued growth of our company depends upon the training and abilities of our people. A VARIETY OF FREE COURSES is offered to Armco men and women. Courses range from blueprint reading to advanced metallurgy and management. Some of our teachers are university professors. ARMCO'S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM helps employees to learn more about job skills, company operations or earn credit toward college degrees. ONE OF EVERY FOUR Armco employees enrolls each year in a company training class or a university course. Our students know that it takes trained brains to make and sell steel. They know that they will earn bigger paychecks as their understanding and skills improve. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES who qualify may take advantage of more than 100 different training programs. Some become skilled journeymen after four years of on-the-job and classroom instruction. Others take courses at colleges and universities. And Armco pays the tuition. IT TAKES TRAINED BRAINS to make steel. This is why Armco is in the education business. And this is why we urge you to finish your high school education. Whether you plan to work for a steel company or in some other field, we are sure you will discover that it takes trained brains to get ahead today.
