Class Prophecy May 21, 1961 Each member of the graduating class of Rock Hill High School in 1951 received by mail a card which read: Big powwow at the high school auditorium on May 30th at 7:30 P. M. Please come dressed as Redmen. You will receive your Indian name as you enter. The evening of May 30, 1961 arrived and after much hard work and planning everything was ready for the powwow. Chief Rain-In-The-Face (Ralph Ackison) met the alumni at the door with his list of names. Sitting Bull (Jack Blair), an auto salesman, entered first with Hawkeye (Robert Reffitt), his business partner. Fleetfoot (John Bare) and his orchestra entertained with war dances. Included in his orchestra were: White Eagle (Bill Burks); Flying Arrow (Bill Hutchinson); Little Buck (Jim Wilson); Young Hawk (Bill Kitts); Big Bow (Bill Morris); and Little Turtle (Roscoe Delong). Red Feet (Chester Kelley) and Bent Knife (Jim Kessinger), two great warriors, were the next to arrive. As several maidens came toward us, we were pleased to see Brown Fawn (Betty Turvey), Bah Chee (Dorothy Moore), Moonbeam (Margaret Layne), and Po Ko (Monica Adams). They now hold positions as scribes in New York City. Much to our surprise we saw the former Bright Star (Donna Zimmerman) walking in with her papoose. In came the braves: Gray Hawk (Lawrence Bailey), Little Arrow (Francis Pancake), Swift Deer (Deroy Stapleton), Long Bow (Danny Ferguson), Great Eagle (Jim Steed). Chicopee (John Ackison), and Northbrook (Jim Ferguson) with Chief Little Crow (Alan Dalton). Sunbeam (Barbara Hankins) on leave from the Stork Club did a dance with Little Man (Danny Blair) and Tonto (Cecil Wilds) accompanying her on the drums. White Fawn (Lorean Valentine) was stunning in a white, gaily beaded costume - the same costume she wore in Paramount's recent release The Call Of The Wild. Several short plays were given near the end of the evening to review the Indian customs and ideas. Included in the cast were such television stars as: Zoma (Betty Barnett), Hampa (Lillian Bentley), Hiawatha (Ruth Clement), Pink Flower (Verna Conaway), Snow Maiden (Lois Gannon), Kill Chief (Martha Depriest), Tippo (Catherine Kimble), Summersaw (Golden Webb), Red Feather (Fletcher White), Bear Paw (Gary Deere), Winterspring (Bob Brammer), White Cloud (Edward Johnson), and Foxfoot (Roy Blagg). 24

A high light of the evening was the fashion show of Indian maiden's costumes. The professional models were Laughing Water (Peggy Ferguson), Minnehaha (Rosemary Gore), Clear Brook (Barbara Layne), Tamerlane (Helen Mullins), Lucknow (Gloria Rowe), Tonkin (Avanell Stapleton), CheChee (Bernice Saunders), Little Moon (Evelyn Harper), Blue Eyes (Lois Sutton), and Young Maiden (Barbara Pinkerman). Red Bud (Alberta Burks) and I, Young Doe (Georgianna Abrams) were reporters for the occasion, and as we are preparing our copy to go to press, the members of the group are returning to their various occupations to dream of the bygone days at good old Rock Hill Hi. 25
